But the idea of doing two socks at a time sounds great! I get things all tangled up when I have two skeins going, but I was thinking I could use two different color yarns so I could do the first sock of two different pairs at the same time... (I don't remember which one, of course, but just did a google search until I found a good tutorial.) I like it better than DPNs and SOOO much more than the 2-circ method, which drives me nuts, with all those dangling ends. Your colorway (and zinnias) is beautiful.
