Eye Candy Friday

March 16, 2007 By Carole

crocus.jpg

Look what I found in the garden last Sunday! The first crocus of the year. What a wonderful spot of yellow in a bed of brown mulch. Of course, by the end of today it’s going to be buried under snow. I love New England.

Very lovely. We don’t have any crocus yet but my tulips are up about 2 inches. Hopefully the snow will melt quickly and we’ll get our spring a little early like the groundhog predicted.

    Beautiful touch of yellow.
True, snow today, rain tomorrow. Ahhhh, one of the mysteries that is New England.

Our crocus could just as easily be buried under snow. Sadly we’re loosing our snow early! Crocus are amazing little flowers. You’ll see even more after the thaw.

Wow, spring comes early down where you are! Here in the north country, we’ve got nothing yet.

Isn’t it wonderful when you spot that first little sign of spring? Even if it get’s covered up, you know Spring is just around the corner 🙂

I should look out in the garden for the snowdrops before it starts snowing…I love this time of year when the flowers are just starting to come alive again :o)

Aww. Sorry your little croaky will be disappearing. It’s a sucky time of year to deal with the “almost spring fake-out” and go back to snow. It seems that we’re past the snow in Kansas now and everything is popping up and looking pretty but…. you never know! 🙂

    Have a great weekend Carole!

Hope you aren’t too hard hit by storms; I always expect the daffodils to end up with a coating of snow, but it IS still spring… finally!

  25. Laurie says

    March 17, 2007 at 7:49 am

Took awhile to get home last night. The shoots of the snowdrops are BURIED. I would envy your crocus, except that you don’t have it anymore either. At least not til the snow melts. I WAS going to go to the flower show today. NFW.

    March 17, 2007 at 8:30 am

wow, what a difference a few miles makes – we have the very tips of daffodils coming up, now buried under snow of course. No crocuses. None. Harrumph.

  27. Kirsten says

So pretty! Hopefully the hardy little crocus will still be perky once this snow melts!

I actually started learning about making sourdough bread a week before the stay at home orders thanks to @sprboston as he shared his starter and recipe and technique with me. Since then I have kept Mama Cass fed and alive and have baked many loaves of bread. This one might be my best one yet. I did the final proof in the fridge for 24 hours and baked it from its cold state.
