Can’t Blog, Must Knit

April 5, 2007 By Carole

Remember that Schaefer Anne from Tuesday’s post? I’m turning it into Merino Lace Socks from the Interweave Knits Favorite Socks book. These are for my Bloomin’ Feet pal who says she likes blue, green and purple. I hope she likes lace, too.

merino_lace_sock.jpg

However, Sock Madness Round 3 started yesterday morning and the Bloomin’ Feet socks have been cast aside for Painted Madness socks. I love this pattern even more than the previous two Sock Madness patterns!

That’s my progress as of this morning. Can’t blog. Must knit.

The Bloomin Feet sock… that’s just a lacey pattern, not laceweight yarn, right?? Soooo pretty. And I love the little ric-rac edging on the Sock Madness pattern!! Is that… could it be… October? If not, it could pass for her sister! ha

I didn’t get to knit at all this morning; no power at the house so it was too dark. Damn! I think I could have gotten to the heel turn, too. I stayed up until midnight because I couldn’t really get going on them until 8:30. Hopefully, this won’t turn into a multi-day power outage and I’ll be able to knit, knit, knit tonight!

Yours are looking great! I really like this pattern, too, although I’m wishing I had chosen a different yarn.

If there’s one thing the pandemic has been good If there’s one thing the pandemic has been good for, it’s my sourdough game. I actually started learning about making sourdough bread a week before the stay at home orders thanks to @sprboston as he shared his starter and recipe and technique with me. Since then I have kept Mama Cass fed and alive and have baked many loaves of bread. This one might be my best one yet. I did the final proof in the fridge for 24 hours and baked it from its cold state. Great spring and ear and crumb, it was delicious with dinner tonight. #sourdough #sourdoughbread #lookatthatcrumb #lookatthatear #homebakedbread #imadeitmyself #homemadeisbest
