At The Faire

On Sunday Dale and I, along with our friend Lois, went to King Richard’s Faire. This Renaissance Faire has been in Carver for over 25 years and we try and go at least once every season. I’m sure no one is surprised to know that we dress up for the occasion.

Being in “period clothing” at this event makes it so much more fun! And the cool thing is that we don’t have to worry about being historically accurate like we do at our Civil War events. Because, frankly, anything goes at this fair, when it comes to costumes.

While we are there we enjoy many things.

The joust.

And the singing.

And the scenery.

But I think there’s one thing about the faire that Dale particularly likes. Know what I mean?

  1. I see that he’s not looking at the camera… Nice costumes. I can’t imagine the storage space you need for all your reenactment and other costumes!!

  2. Ah, yes, what my SCA daughter calls “Renfair Hotties”! How could he NOT notice?! VBG!

  3. Renaissance Festival is a huge deal in our area. I went once (not in costume) and was a little shocked by some of the costumes, like the chain mail bikinis–not what I was expecting.

  4. Haha! I know exactly what you mean….

KRF is always a good time and I have to agree that it’s all that much more fun in costume. I love seeing how people are dressed, some stranger than others.

PS It’s my dream to run away and join the ren faire. For some it’s the circus, for me it’s the faire. Strange….

  5. Aye..Yar make a fine Wench! I love the renaissance faire. I went to the one here in Minnesota. I don’t dress up (usually because I don’t have anything to wear) but I’m hoping to actually get a booth this next year and sell my artwork. I told my husband if he’s going to join me, he has to wear a kilt (he’s irish in heritage). He’s actually pretty excited about wearing a “man skirt” as he calls it.

  6. what a great time – your costumes are marvelous – Dale looks like quite the wizard, and you dear one look ravishing (or is that.. about to be ravished?) grin.

  7. Huzzah!

It must be so nice to go to a Ren Faire on the east coast, in October, when the weather’s turning. Colorado’s Ren Faire is in June through August, and I have a feeling that you know how miserable it is to be dressed in period costume when it’s in the 90s. 🙂

  8. looks like you had a great time. Dales costume is fabulous and as for you Miss Carole: As Al would say, boobalicious!

  9. Hi! I sent you a Halloween treat! See my blog for more info. Happy Halloween! (p.s My mom was a librarian, and I was a high school English/ESL teacher) I like your blog!

  10. Ok – I’m not going there :)!

We went to that faire once – quite a few years ago. Should think about going again.

  11. You and Dale look perfect together in your costumes. And that last picture cracks me up. You can totally see what he’s thinking 🙂

  12. SPLORF!

When I was little, I thought Mom was amazing because she could take my brother and me back in time…

    Love your costumes.

  13. No, I couldn’t possibly figure out what you mean, Carole? Heh, you look great, I can see why Dale enjoys the view. Hehe.

  14. FUN!!!! I love jousting (it’s got horses, how could I not?). Did you know the original destrier mounts of the medieval ages were actually no bigger than 14.1 or 14.2 hands, which is the cut-off for today’s pony? Interesting, I thought, because I suspect we all think of war steeds as being huge Clydesdale-like creatures; I know I did.
