Juno Regina

That red coat I mentioned in yesterday’s post? I also needed a scarf to wear with it. When I saw Miriam’s Juno Regina pattern I knew it was just the thing.

The yarn, ironically enough, is some lace weight that Miriam herself dyed for me last winter. So, both the yarn and the pattern come from the same brilliant designer.

It’s nice that she’s also my friend.

I love the way the colors swirl and move throughout the length of the scarf. Speaking of the length, it’s only about 1/2 the length of the original design. I wanted it shorter so it would be just a simple neck wrap.

Light as a feather but very warm and beautiful.

It’s like getting a hug from Miriam every time I wear it.

  1. How beautiful! Juno Regina is on my lace list, and now that I’ve seen yours I’m even more excited about it.

  2. I have that in my queue. Still on the look out for the yarn she used- Helen’s Laces in the Manzanita colorway. Should probably just order it from my LYS. It doesn’t seem like a color many carry for some reason. Love the color and mods of yours. No modeled shots?

  3. Of course you needed a scarf. How are you set for mittens? 🙂 It’s gorgeous! A nice width to scrunch up around your neck and keep the cold out.

  4. Very nice. After seeing yours, I may have to give up on the baby silk and try a hand dyed yarn. I wasn’t sure how it would compete with the diamonds.

  5. BEAUTIFUL!! Mim’s pattern is on the top of my list this winter as well. The colors in her yarn are stunning…all of my favorites wrapped up in one!

  6. Aw! Carol you are awesome! I had no idea you were knitting it let alone in the yarn I dyed!

It should go perfectly with your new Calorimetry (or however the hell it’s spelled).

    *hug*

  7. I loved that pattern when I first saw it on Knitty. I love it even more now. Great job, Carole!

And as far as my mojo goes? Who knows? I’m thinking I might have some other “issues” to deal with!

    Hugs!

  8. Wow Carole! How undescribably SPECIAL. And a lovely surprise for Mim too, as I see in her comment. 🙂

I need to dye some red’ish laceweight for it now. I remember watching as she was designing this pattern at Estes last summer and can’t wait to make it!

  12. That is like gorgeous! Are you sure you wouldn’t like to give it away?…I’d be more than delighted to take it off your hands!!!

  13. oh i love that yarn!

i just casted on for this a few days ago. i’m a beginner lace knitter though so we’ll see how it goes. i’m scared to moved past the set up. 🙂

  14. I’m surprised at how well it worked with your variegated yarn. I wouldn’t have thought to try that, but the effect is lovely!

    Do I have to queue this one now?… I think I do, sigh… 😉

  15. Am I living under a rock? How did I not know about MimKnits? I just linked over to her blog and am stunned and amazed by all her fabulous designs.

Your combination of Miriam’s yarn with her pattern is stunning and I bet it looks stunning on.

Oh no, another pattern to add to my never-ending, constantly-growing, will never get to it in my lifetime queue. 😉

  16. So pretty! I am in search for the perfect yarn and pattern to go with my red coat, too. I have some silk that I’m getting ready to spin up that goes well, and I may just have to copy you and make Juno Regina as well. Yours is lovely.
