Oh Canada Progress

The other day Nora asked.  And then yesterday Margene asked.  It’s a simple enough question – what are you knitting?  My answer:

Oh Canada.  I love it.  I hate it.  I love the yarn – Kim’s Opulence –  and I love the simplicity of the design Anne’s brainchild.  I hate how long I’ve been working on it – since October 21st – and I hate how bored I am at this point.

I’ve got 15 repeats done.  I’m not sure I can survive the last 3.

Wish me luck.

  1. Remember: 3 things! Of course, I don’t think these 3 repeats should be your sum-total of good-for-you today… It’s lovely!

  2. Carole, that’s so beautiful. Like Mel said, you’re almost done. Heck, if you’re that close, can’t you just bind it off and call it done and give it to a little one?

  3. What!? October 21st isn’t that long ago. Kim’s yarn will be worth every stitch and the color is fabulous! You can complain when you’ve been knitting on it for 3 months, but not until. 😉

  4. Its beautiful! Hang in there, its going to be so worth it when its done!

I’m working on the same thing, I think the same yarn color – since June. And I’m about 2 inches in. Its on the UFO list at this point…

  5. I think that means you need to cast on another project. Or two. Then when you work on it, you won’t be so bored. 🙂

  6. I feel your pain. I get there with every stole or scarf I knit but I just keep telling myself that the end is in sight and it’s totally worth it. And make sure that something juicy, like Project Runway, is on TV!

  7. Color & pattern are both really gorgeous – hang in there! Been there more than once, but it’s worth it in the end.

  8. You can do it you can do it you can do it!!

I hate when projects get pro-longed. Think of how great it will feel when you are all done.

  9. The scarf is absolutely beautiful!! The yarn looks yummy and
I love the pattern and was all set to purchase it (not good at
self control over compulsive purchases in the knitting department)
until I read that you are so bored with it…….now I don’t know
what to do. Lovely, lovely, you are almost there. 🙂

  10. Good luck! I’m in a similar place with Meander (for which, of course, I have no one but myself to blame). If I can do it, you can do it, and vice versa.

  11. The reward will be in wearing it :). Oh Canada is still my most favorite knitted item to wear. You are sooooooooo close 🙂

  12. You’re killing me! October 21 is a long time to be working on something?!?! I just finished Lady E last night and it was originally cast on in APRIL! :o)

  13. It’s so pretty….what’s a measly 3 repeats? (ok, I know, it’s agony when you’re not enjoying it…)
    (((((hugs)))))
And best wishes sent out 1) for a quick finish, and 2) for a sale on that mobile home. Sorry I’m late to the game…
    😉

  14. Hullo! I’m a fairly new reader to your blog. I just want to say that the scarf is lovely and don’t let it get you down. And from my perspective, you’ve been working on it for less than a month, there’s no reason to feel rushed to finish — but my perspective is that of a mom with 2 little kids and hardly any free time, so you can take it for what its worth.

  15. Oh, sister, I feel ya. There’s nothing like the unending lace project to make you question why you’re spending your time knitting.

It will totally be worth it. However, there is no shame in cheating with a sock. ;^)

  16. it’s glorious – but yeah, those never ending repeats of a pattern can be killer.
hang in there – it will be stunning when you’re finished.

  17. Absolutely love the yarn and the pattern is beautiful. I’ve some yarn that would work nicely with it so I’ll have to see if I have enough or if it’s suitable. Although as a Canadian I’m not sure that lacey pattern has what it takes to keep the cold out in the winter. I just about froze to death on my way out of the arena last night after the local junior hockey game! Still love the pattern though!!
