Eye Candy Friday

November 28, 2008 By Carole

Just like Thanksgiving, today’s Eye Candy Friday post is about abundance and plenty. Just tell me which is your favorite:

Apple

Pumpkin

Mincemeat

Or cranberry pecan

My favorite is pumpkin but as the cook I really do have to try them all! Have a great weekend and enjoy all those leftovers.

I’ve never had cranberry pecan but straightup pecan made with blackstrap has always been my favorite. Had I really thought ahead I would have had Dad send me some fresh pecans for this year’s pie. Yum!

Mmm, that’s the most beautiful pumpkin pie I’ve ever seen. The leaf decoration is perfection. Cooking with Carole, that’s all I’ll say.

It’s a toss up between Pumpkin and Mincemeat…..but Pumpkin won out for me on Thanksgiving 🙂

  21. lisa says

Holy smokes Carole! Those are incredibly beautiful pies… and I bet they tasted pretty good too. My favorite is pecan, never had it w/ cranberries, but I love them too, so it’d be the one I went for. Never had mincemeat. At my house I made apple, pumpkin (with brandy hard sauce-first time, yum!), and plain pecan. And here’s what came , apple tart, frosted pumpkin bars, chocolate walnut oil drizzled spicy pumpkin cake, and canoli from Tripoli in Lawrence (but these were appetizers, desserts, breakfast). The pecan and apple tart (which had a egg glaze and was more sugary looking than the pie) went first.

Beautiful pies! We had chocolate pecan pie. I love mincemeat, but don’t fix it often, as I’m the only one who will eat it, and don’t need to eat a whole pie by myself ;oP

What could possibly be wrong with cranberries and pecans. Truly beautiful. I made a lattice cranberry orange pie and a delicious macadamia ginger tart. Not purely traditional, but then, I never have been. The fact that my 8 year old was disappointed that I wasn’t making creme brulee made me think I was at least semi-traditional…..

    Happy Thanksgiving!

OOhh! They all look divine, but I must admit I am eyeing the apple pie especially close! Excuse me while I go clean up after drooling over these luscious treats! Hope your Thanksgiving was blessed and happy! : )

They all look wonderful. Did you make the mincemeat from scratch? Does it have suet in it?

I made a quince tarte tatin and a pumpkin pie. All yummy.

    Dear Carole,
I made your Cranberry Pecan Pie for Thanksgiving dinner yesterday and it was a big hit. I especially think it is delicious! Thank you so much for sharing the recipe!! I substiuted maple syrup for the corn syrup and that worked great, but I did need to cook it a little longer to get it to set up.
I read your blog pretty much every day and really enjoy your beautiful knitting, photograpy, and writing. You have a fun sense of humor! Also, I have to tell you how sweet and beautiful your Hannah looks! I’m sure you know that already, but what a beauty.
My daughter is just turning 21 next month and we enjoy knitting and reading the blogs together!
My best and thanks again for your fun blog!

Traditionally apple – if made with Vermont MacIntosh.
    But…I also love pumpkin.

    Still, that cranberry pecan? *swoon*
Hmm..That might be my new favorite.

Hope you enjoyed your Turkey Day.

  38. Norma says

Gorgeous. I’d have to go with the cranberry-pecan, only because it’s not a regular in our rotation. But maybe that will change!

  39. Julie says

    Definitely cranberry pecan! Yum,Yum, Yummy!

  40. Marji says

They all are beautiful. I’ll have a slice of the apple and the cranberry pecan, please!

However, I make a grape pie that is our family favorite. Have you ever tried a grape pie?

  41. Paula says

    November 28, 2008 at 9:44 pm

Gorgeous. I would have had to have a teeny sliver of each.

  42. amy says

    November 28, 2008 at 9:45 pm

I love apple pie…but only the filling! Pumpkin is a close second.

The cranberry would be a top choice too…without the nuts! Do they make cranberry pie?

But like I said, the I only like the filling, so I always feel guilty for taking a piece when the hardest part of making it goes unappreciated!

  43. Lisa says

    November 28, 2008 at 10:29 pm

I’ll have a slice of pumpkin please. Can I have some whipped cream with that?

  44. Doris says

  45. Sara says

The cranberry pecan is one I have never had – so, I would try it first. My favorite is always pumpkin!

  46. Sarah says

    November 29, 2008 at 12:55 am

It would be rude of me not to have a tiny bit of each.

  47. Jean says

    November 29, 2008 at 10:31 am

What a feast! A really good pie has to be my favorite. It rates above cakes, cookies and other delectable delights. I would have to ask for a slice of the apple pie (they all look delicious though).

  48. Leslie says

    November 29, 2008 at 5:08 pm

Today I would say apple but the pecan-cranberry looks mighty tempting, too.

  49. Carol says

    Hands down – the apple.

  50. Lissa says

happy thanksgiving from the other side of the country! I vote for Mincemeat if the “meat” is really apples. (auntie something-it comes in a jar, the best filling ever!) Cranberry pecan sounds yummy!
