Twas the Monday Before Christmas

As you may have heard, we’ve had some snow. It started on Friday at 2pm and didn’t stop until sometime early Sunday morning. Then it started again, turned to heavy rain, then turned back to snow. It’s a real mess out there and today is supposed to be very cold (it’s 13 ° right now!) so there’s not much possibility of melting. Looks like we may indeed have a white Christmas.

This weather hasn’t slowed down Christmas preparations around here, in case you’re wondering. And neither did the stomach plague that Dale and Hannah both caught from me. Hannah started Thursday night and Dale started Friday afternoon but by Saturday they were both feeling better. Or at least better enough to shovel and do some Christmas shopping!

Speaking of Christmas shopping – it’s done. The wrapping is under control, the cooking making is almost finished as I’ve just got the peanut butter balls left to do today, and that only leaves the shopping and cooking for our Christmas Eve buffet. There’s not a lot of time for knitting these days but at least I’m getting all the other stuff done.

Enjoy your Monday!

  1. Oh, what beautiful snow! We had the air conditioner on last week, but it has finally gotten cold enough in the last day to have a fire in the fireplace. I would LOVE a white Christmas!!!!

  2. We were expecting tons more snow and even when I went to bed they said the commute would be bad. Well, it’s windy and melting like crazy! It is crazy! I’d rather have had the snow. Happy Christmas week. You know how to do it right!

  3. Sounds like you have things very much under control! Kudos to you. We got at least 2 feet of snow. Fortunately it was a snow event without any change over. We lost power for 2.5 hours at 11 PM. So grateful to have it back. Stay warm!

  4. The snow does look lovely unfortunately I’m heading out to shovel so I suspect my feelings will change. Enjoy your baking. The house is always extra cozy when something tasty is in the oven.

  5. We got quite a bit down here in the SW corner of CT and it only changed to light rain for a tiny while, whew! Great stuff yesterday for snowshoeing, but not so great today with that windchill! Good day to wrap presents, bake cookies and KNIT! Merry Christmas, Carole!

  6. That tree says “snow storm”! I’ll take your 14 degrees and give you our current -14 degrees! Hope all are on the mend and feeling better by now!

  7. We *may* have a white Christmas? I know it’s supposed to warm up on Wed, but unless it hits 95 in the shade I think Bing adherents will be quite happy.

As for your Christmas preparations, I hate people like you.

  8. I’m actually happy for a bit of shoveling as it takes away the guilt of all my cookie-eating! Hope everyone is feeling better today!

  9. Your temperatures are downright warm. 😉 I wish we could some snow around here so it would warm up. Congrats on finishing your shopping. I did a mid air heel click when I finished mine last night. It’s a good feeling. 🙂

  10. Oh dear……..I’m sorry to hear that both Dale and Hannah got sick. Hopefully it’s all behind you now and you can enjoy the holidays!

  11. That’s about what it looks like up here…YEP! Enjoy the week off!

When I worked always tried to arrange some vacation days so I could make good use of the week of Christmas and New Year’s.

  12. Glad you’re all feeling better! :o)

Something tells me we’re getting rain – it’s supposed to be 38 on Wednesday. This sucks…youknowwhat. ;op

  13. You’re definitely up there on the snow meter! Sorry to hear the sickness made its way through the family. My son had it all day Sunday but so far (fingers crossed) the rest of us are O.K. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
