Random Monday

I have lots of pictures to show you and things to tell you about our visit with the kids last week.  Sadly, Firefox keeps crashing every time I try to upload a photo.  I’m not alone in this so I’m hoping someone else will figure out how to fix it.  In the meantime, here’s a random list of stuff that’s going on around here.

~ Ambrynn calls Jimmy Buffett “Jiminy Muffin” and she likes him because she likes muffins and she ate English muffins at Nana and Grandpa’s house last week.  I’ll take it.

~ Dale’s dad is in the hospital recuperating from hernia surgery.  The procedure was a lot more complicated than the doctor’s anticipated.  He’s strong but he’s 82 so any good thoughts and healing vibes you can send his way are greatly appreciated.

~ Hannah’s boyfriend is all done with school and finals and she now has to walk to school again.  She thinks this is a tragedy.  I think it is a riot.

~ We’ve watched a couple of movies lately.  I didn’t much care for Twilight but Rachel Getting  Married was pretty good.

~ I’ve been knitting quite a bit.  I’ve got a nearly finished baby sweater, a nearly finished shawl, a nearly finished baby hat, and a nearly finished pair of socks.  All of this nearly finished stuff should be showing up here on the blog very soon.

That’s all I’ve got for this Monday.  Let me know when y’all fix that Firefox thing.

  1. I haven’t watched twilight, but Rachel getting married was just kind of awkward to me. Maybe that was the point, I am not sure. What did you like about it?

  2. Funny, we’re usually in synch, but I really liked Twilight. Now I have to read the book.

Best of luck to Jack. My thoughts are with him!

Give IE a try just to upload the pics, then abandon it and get right back to Firefox. 🙂

  3. I really enjoyed Rachel Getting Married too. Possibly because their dysfunction made all of my family dysfunction seem so much better!!

  4. The whole Twilight thing escapes me. I tried to read the books … laughed all the way through the first and stalled out before I finished the second. So naturally, I watched the movie … and am now done with the franchise altogether.

All good thoughts for Dale’s dad ….

  5. Many healing thoughts are headed towards Dale’s Dad from us in NH.

Yay on the knitting front! I haven’t been knitting hardly at all….but I’ve been spinning quite a bit. Yin and Yang 😉

  6. Prayers for Dales Dad coming your way….

Jiminy Muffin was my laugh for the morning – thanks Ambrynn!

  7. I didn’t get the Twilight thing at all and giggled at some particularly hackneyed bits. This earned me a smack and several withering looks from Lindsey. Oh well.

I’m thiking good thoughts for your father in law.

  8. Sorry, but I’m a Twilight fan. Loved the books, did OK with the movie even thought the vampire makeup jobs were about the worst thing I’ve ever seen.

Hope Dale’s dad improves! Looking forward to seeing that knitting.

  9. I love the Jiminy Muffin name! So cute. My daughter is totally into Twilight but doesn’t want me to watch the movie ’cause that’s HER thing. Sounds like you’ve got a lot more knitting going on than I have…the baby blanket I started ages ago is still languishing in the knitting bag.

  10. I’m having the same crash problem (as you know) so I’ll look into it later, after gardening. ;o)

Can I send you some of my knitting so you can work on it for me? ;op

  11. My boss had hernia surgery this past fall–even though he’s considerably younger it was still a big deal. From the sounds of it, he was very much misled by the doctors etc. how long recovery would take. It is not something to screw around with so hopefully Dale’s dad is taking care of himself!

  12. Love Jimmy Muffin!

When Taz was very small (and not yet disabled) he had a book called Big Wheels about construction equipment. He loved it and referred to it as Big Weasels, so during the 1996 election we taught him to say “Bob Dole and Bill Clinton are big weasels!”

Ahem. All good healing thoughts to Dale’s dad.

  13. He’s only 82? Okay, now I feel old. Sending love and the healing vibes. *wiggles fingers @ monitor*

I don’t get Twilight. Maybe I’m weird, but I want a full grown sexy vampire. Not some hollow chested teen aged boy.

    Show me the knitting!

  14. Prayers for Dale’s dad. If he’s into history, Jack Weatherford’s book, Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World, is riveting and will make the hours of recuperation pass more quickly.

  15. Rachel Getting Marries really stuck with me, unlike most movies. Even though Kate Winslet was wonderful in The Reader, I can’t help thinking that Anne Hathaway was robbed of her Oscar. She was amazing.
