Ten On Tuesday

I spend a fair amount of time in the car, driving back and forth to work, going on vacations, taking Sunday drives. While out and about I think it’s fun to read the various bumper stickers people put on their vehicles and that leads me to today’s Ten on Tuesday topic: The 10 Best Bumper Stickers I’ve Ever Seen.

  1. Hang Up and Drive. I first saw this one in Maine when Dale and I were on our honeymoon back in 1997. It will always be my favorite.
  2. Motorcycles are Everywhere. My brother died in a motorcycle accident and so did one of my dearest friends. This bumper sticker has a very personal meaning for me.
  3. My Other Vehicle is a Spinning Wheel. Of course I love that one. I have mine on my bulletin board in my office, though, and not on my car.
  4. Coexist. You know the one, right? It spells out the letters “coexist” with religious symbols. I’m all about religious freedom, tolerance and understanding so I proudly have this one on my car.
  5. Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History. I’m a feminist and proud of it so to this I say: amen.
  6. Jesus Was a Bleeding Heart Liberal. I try to avoid politics on this here blog but I can’t possibly avoid them when it comes to bumper stickers. I figure this one is pretty benign but still makes my point.
  7. Red Sox Nation. I’m a believer, you know, because I was raised that way.
  8. Read. It’s simple and to the point and very important.
  9. Jesus is Coming – Look Busy. I love it!
  10. If You Think Education is Expensive, Try Ignorance. I honestly believe ignorance is the root of all of the world’s problems.

  1. Great list. Bumper sticker I hate — My Kid Can Beat Up Your Honor Roll Kid. Bumper sticker I love – The Road To Hell Is Paved With Republicans. (Sorry – you have mentioned that you don’t do political commentary as a rule.)

  2. Great bumper stickers, many of which were new to me.

DD’s best friend has this one: “Where are we going, and why am I in this hand basket?” Love it!

  3. We just visited my cousin’s place of employment – Microsoft. Saw three I liked: Geek Girl, I Know HTML (How To Meet Ladies), and My daddy can out code your daddy. Were I to have a bumper sticker on my car, it would be Blue Girl in Red State.

  4. I was stumped by this one, but I nodded along to all of the ones you listed…other than that Red Sox one. But Red Sox fans and Yankees fans can Coexist, right?!!

  5. In an effort to offend everyone equally, I kinda found this one funny some years back, “Nuke the Unborn Gay Whales for Christ”.

And on a long, hot (I cannot stress ‘hot’ enough here) trip across I-70 and the gloriously flat state of Kansas I saw one that looked like a note that read, “Dear Auntie Em, Hate you. Hate Kansas. Taking the dog. Dorothy’

As you can tell, bumper stickers bring out the ornery in me.

  6. I should have read the above sumissions first. Perhaps Mary K. would approve of, “My Border Collie is smarter than you honor student.”

  7. Love them all, but I think of those my 2nd favorite would be the spinning wheel one (Red Sox are, of course, #1)! A few good ones I’ve seen recently …

    Be Nice To America
Or We’ll Bring Democracy To Your Country!

    I Studied Compassion
    Under Snape

and perhaps the funniest I’ve seen in a while …
    Watch Out
    For The Idiot
    Behind Me!

  8. I love coexist, too – and the others you listed are all notable. maybe I need to pay more attention to bumper stickers…or maybe I should just drive šŸ™‚

  9. Those are great!

    The latest one’s I loved was…

Don’t worry, the zombies are looking for brains ~ you are safe.

Yes I’m a *itch, just not your *itch.

    Great grins today!

  10. /snicker: “Flirt harder. Iā€™m a physicist.” (ooh and the zombie one too!)

Excellent fun prompt this week. (Sorry my post did not get up in time – or even, yet.)

  11. Addendum: I forgot about this one:

“No, you are not the center of the universe. That spot is already taken by my cat.”

As someone who is owned by a cat, thought you might enjoy.
