Eye Candy Friday

August 5, 2011 By Carole

Yesterday I mentioned that I used to quilt a lot. I still know how to quilt, obviously, but I haven’t actually made a quilt in years. That may be about to change.

Have an awesome weekend and make something, won’t you?

I do not even sew but quilting seems so appealing to me! Maybe it is all the pretty fabric. I have resisted so far but I found myself searching for the closest quilting classes the other night and feel my resistance fading away.

Have you seen the jelly roll quilt races? I purchased my first jelly rolls and saw the video the next day. 🙂 I think I know what I will be making with one of my jelly rolls!

The fabric is so enticing! Funny how old obsessions come back, but with some reasonableness. Enjoy your weekend!

I’m always attracted to the little cakes of fabric when I enter a quilt store, but so far, I have been able to avoid bringing on home. At least you know what to do with one! TGIF!

Oh! That’s gorgeous!! And it’s where I freeze… I can’t tell you how many different types of fabric packs I’ve had in my hand and I just can’t decide! Those look like all batiks and the colors are luscious — I can’t wait to see what it becomes! Have a great weekend, Carole.

That looks scrumptious! It makes me feel like getting creative-those are batik, right? Can’t wait to see what you do with them.

Jelly roll – yum! I loved your post from yesterday. I could have written it (I think a lot of us could have) but I’d have substituted “grandma” for “mom.” Maybe it’s because we didn’t have video games to keep our hands busy (we didn’t even have cable in my house), or maybe it’s just the way we are. At any rate, I’m happy to be that way and happy that you are too!

I can attest to Carole’s quilting expertise. I have a beautiful throw on my bed that she gave me, and every time I look at it, I think of her!

Yummy colors and it will be fun to work with, I am sure! I’m layering a baby quilt top this weekend. I may even try machine quilting it myself.

Batik! I have an idea for a quilt in my head. I fell asleep thinking about it. Might have to do it now…

It is starting out awesome…I’ve had the day to myself…first day in 34days….I need a tiny bit of solitude. Not much, but whose counting!

I started a pair of Toast fingerless today in sock yarn.

Would my weekend be better with chocolate chip cookies?

I actually started learning about making sourdough bread a week before the stay at home orders thanks to @sprboston as he shared his starter and recipe and technique with me. Since then I have kept Mama Cass fed and alive and have baked many loaves of bread. This one might be my best one yet. I did the final proof in the fridge for 24 hours and baked it from its cold state.
