Wednesdays Are For Knitting

So. The knitting around here lately? B-O-R-I-N-G.

Don’t get me wrong, I love finished socks and I (mostly) love knitting socks but sometimes that round and and round. . . Well. You know.

Last week I went over my Ravelry queue to look for something that would inspire me. And I found . . . nothing. But then, Kirsten of Through the Loops came to my rescue with the announcement of her Mystery Shawl 2014. I’ve done Mystery Socks before but never a shawl. And last year’s Through the Loops Mystery Shawl was a stunner that I did knit after the fact and so . . . I purchased the pattern.

There’s only 1 problem . . . it doesn’t start until June 1st. And I’m bored with sock knitting. I could keep searching that Ravelry queue for something quick and fun but I don’t really want to start something new only to have to set it aside on June 1st.

And then I remembered . . . The Epic Sock Blanket.

It’s back and it’s keeping me highly entertained. We’ll just have to wait and see how long this lasts.

  1. My knitting is in the same state as yours. (I am 30 inches in to the 50 inches of stockinette required for another folded poncho. Talk about b-o-r-i-n-g. . .) I also signed up for Kirsten’s mystery shawl! June 1 can’t get here fast enough!!!

  2. Can’t wait to see that blanket! And I joined the KAL as well…we’ll see how I do. I’ve been longing for a black shawl so this might just be what I need to get that done!

  3. I joined the KAL too and ordered a gradient kit from Black Trillium as well. In fact my whole Friday afternoon knitting group is doing it. It should be lots of fun! I started a little shawlette yesterday and just realized that I’m using the same needle for it that I’m probably going to want for the MKAL. I’m going to consider it great inspiration to stay motivated to finish the little shawl!

  4. Do I see familiar yarns in the ESB photo? A little miter here a little mitering there and you’ll have a blanket (at some point). We’re going to have a blast with our Mystery Shawls!!

  5. I’m so glad to have company with that Mystery Shawl! …and packet of sock yarn remainders will be headed your way at some point.

  6. Happy Knitting! June 1 isn’t really all that long away…OTOH how can it already soon be June when we haven’t had spring yet??

  7. I’m doing the Mystery Shawl, too. The yarn’s just sitting, waiting for me. Oh, and June 1st will be here before you know it. 🙂
