School’s Out!

dale wed afternoon for carole knits

See that guy in that photo? And see that relaxed look on his face? He’s about to look that relaxed for the next 9 weeks because school’s out for summer after today!

I am incredibly jealous but also happy for him because that 5am wake time is rough, I tell you. Of course, I have plenty of projects for him to do like staining the deck and the porch and painting our new little den but still, he won’t be getting up and going off to work and he’s earned this break, I can tell you that.

It’s summer! Bring it on!

  1. Congrats, Dale!

After you’ve finished Carole’s ‘Honey Do, List’, I’ve got one, too! 😉 Enjoy your time off!!

  2. Oh yeah, it’s wonderful to get a break from those five am wake-up calls. Happy summer for both of you.

  3. No more teachers, no more books, no more bus driver’s dirty looks 😉 Happy Summer to Dale!!

  4. Now that is the look of a happy relaxed teacher! Love how Dale has transitioned to summer! I was just remembering how my husband would whisk me up to Maine the day after school let out so I could debrief from the rigors of the school year. Such a sweet feeling!

  5. I didn’t remember Dale is a teacher- What subject, History? Happy Summer to you both!

  6. I used to work for our local school district and I do miss that delicious end-of-school-year feeling. Happy Summer Vacation, Dale!

  7. When I worked, I would start every vacation with two lists. One was things I wanted to do, and the other was things I didn’t want to do, but knew I should. I would try to chose one thing from each list every day. So in the morning I would take the dog to the vet or have the oil changed in my car or trim the hedges in front of my house, and in the afternoon I would go to the quilt shop, or a movie, or out for lunch. At the end of the vacation, I would feel that I had accomplished allot because I had tackled so many things from the chore list, but I would also feel that I had taken a nice break.

  8. Just a little foretaste of retirement—–when you can smile every single morning that you hear the bus go by and you can stay in bed. Bliss!
