Weekending

sunflowers for carole knits

This weekend I

  • grocery shopped. There was a lot to catch up on after being away for 2 weeks.
  • ran other errands like going to the post office and the bank and picking up our farm share
  • sweltered in the heat. I am not complaining, make no mistake about it, but we had some of the hottest weather of the summer on Friday and Saturday. Preparing cheese & crackers made me sweat like I had just run a mile – it was that kind of hot.
  • knit. Socks for Hannah and the cactus flower shawl.
  • read. A Winter’s Tale. I think I’m finally getting into it.
  • had dinner with good good friends. Lots of reminiscing and yummy lasagna and wine.
  • watched football. The Pats lost and that was a drag but it’s very very early in the season and I will not be discouraged.
  • hung out on the deck. I’m on medication right now that requires that I stay out of the sun so this was late afternoon deck hanging. It’s all good.
  • grilled. Salmon one night, brats another. I’m not tired of it yet.
  • enjoyed the hummingbirds. Sadly, they will be gone very soon.
  • caught up on Outlander. I love it.
  • really enjoyed just being home. The renovating we’ve been having done is really coming along and I love the way our house looks now. Finally!
  • made plans for next weekend. And the weekend after that which just happens to be my birthday weekend.

How was your weekend?

  1. Your weekend sounds fun. Mine went by in blur and I still feel behind. How do you get caught up? Oh wait, you have 3 days! That’s what I need, 3 three day weekend every week. You know how to have fun and how to relax.

  2. As usual, your weekend sounds jam-packed and so fun! We had soccer opening day (in the sweltering heat), washing & putting away our boat for the winter (so sad, especially since Sunday was such a gorgeous day in NH), and getting ready for Disney!

  3. Are you a Virgo/Libra cusp? Can’t wait to see what plans you’re cooking up. Sorry your Pats lost. The Broncos tried to pull defeat out of the jaws of victory. Ah well, as you said, it’s early in the season!

  4. Your weekend sounds lovely despite the heat. I too found time for knitting and reading a midst the grocery shopping, vacuuming, and laundry. I hope to have landed on firm ground and will be able to re-establish my blog reading. Good to see this lovely new (to me) layout. Happy Monday, Carole!

  5. sounds like it was full – of (mostly – sorry about the football loss) good stuff! mine was too, also including Outlander which I’m still behind on, but loving. I’ll catch up this week.

  6. What beautiful sunflowers. I wasn’t really liking the heat Friday and Saturday but I was glad that we had such a nice day for Sunday. I have faith in the Pats. It’s still early…

  7. Outlander: just finished Book #3, saw Episode #2 at a friend’s house. So much (somewhat crude) knitwear! I’m sure patterns are popping up in Ravelry already.
