Eye Candy Friday

front door wreath 2015 for carole knits

This year’s wreath for the front door is finally up. I bought the plain green wreath Tuesday on the way home from work and fully intended to decorate and hang it that night. But rain. And Wednesday? More rain. Yesterday was blustery but dry and I got home from work and immediately pulled out the floral wire, pine cones and poinsettias and got busy. Hanging it was more of a challenge than I anticipated since it was too heavy for the magnetic hook I normally use but with some help from Dale the job was completed. Yay!

The kitchen door wreath is also up, the outside lights are done, and there’s just the big wreath to put on the 2nd story of the side of our house (we live on a corner and that side is the one that actually faces the main street so it needs something) and then I can declare that the outside is ready for the season.

Hurray!

Also worthy of hurray: the fact that I get to say, for the first time in over a month, have a great weekend and see you on Monday!

Your wreath is beautiful! I, also, purchase a plain wreath and decorate it myself…which was just hung yesterday for the same weather reasons that you had. But it’s going to be in the 50’s through to Monday…sweater weather in December…you have to love it!

That is a lovely and festive wreath! I’m decorating outside this weekend, but it’s minimal – a few wreaths, wrapping our columns to look like peppermint sticks, and garland on the spinning wheel. Happy Weekend!

If there’s one thing the pandemic has been good If there’s one thing the pandemic has been good for, it’s my sourdough game. I actually started learning about making sourdough bread a week before the stay at home orders thanks to @sprboston as he shared his starter and recipe and technique with me. Since then I have kept Mama Cass fed and alive and have baked many loaves of bread. This one might be my best one yet. I did the final proof in the fridge for 24 hours and baked it from its cold state. Great spring and ear and crumb, it was delicious with dinner tonight. #sourdough #sourdoughbread #lookatthatcrumb #lookatthatear #homebakedbread #imadeitmyself #homemadeisbest
