Eye Candy Friday

December 2, 2016 By Carole

birch-trees-paint-night-for-carole-knits

It seems a little conceited to show a painting I did as eye candy but it’s quite seasonal and, while it’s hardly fine art, I’m proud of it. I owe a lot of it to Connie, the awesome woman who teaches paint night at my library. But I know that I get to take some credit for it, too. I’ve never considered myself to have much artistic talent but I’ve learned since I started playing around with art journaling this year that lots of practice and taking lessons does actually lead to improvement. How ’bout that?

And how ’bout this: it’s the weekend! And NaBloPoMo is over so I will see you on Monday!

It’s a charming picture and far beyond what I would aspire to. ‘Tis true that flexing the creative muscle strengthens it. We shall miss you, but try to enjoy your weekend.

What a lovely winter painting you did! I heard about a paint night an hour away that is held in a bar; that would not improve my miniscule artistic ability!

The picture is beautiful, Carole – and sharing it is not conceited at all! I know how much work goes into the creation of art! So, share – and share boldly!! And, here is to having a FANTASTIC NaBloPoMo free weekend!! Let the weekending festivities begin!! XOXO

Painting is perfect for this time of year. I used to see cardinals when I lived in CT. Here in northern ME I have not seen any. I miss seeing then against the snow.
    Happy weekending!

It’s a gorgeous painting! I’m so glad you shared it with us. Think of it as sharing your knitting with us. Another beautiful expression of creativity.

Why is a painting more “conceited” than a photo? You have a talent for both. Flaunt it 😉

If there’s one thing the pandemic has been good If there’s one thing the pandemic has been good for, it’s my sourdough game. I actually started learning about making sourdough bread a week before the stay at home orders thanks to @sprboston as he shared his starter and recipe and technique with me. Since then I have kept Mama Cass fed and alive and have baked many loaves of bread. This one might be my best one yet. I did the final proof in the fridge for 24 hours and baked it from its cold state. Great spring and ear and crumb, it was delicious with dinner tonight. #sourdough #sourdoughbread #lookatthatcrumb #lookatthatear #homebakedbread #imadeitmyself #homemadeisbest
