Currents, Early April 2017

It’s a good day to take stock on a few things so how about a right now post? Let’s go!

Videotaping: 1 second every day. This is what I’ve decided to do for #the100dayproject. I’ve toyed with the idea for a while and yesterday I downloaded the 1SE app and I’m off. Wish me luck!

Laughing: At the April Fool’s Day joke I pulled on Dale. It was Saturday morning and I, as usual, was up early. I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth when Dale came out to check the woodstove before heading back to bed. I stood in the dining room and looked out the back door and say, “hey Dale, c’mere. There are deer in the backyard.” He didn’t have his glasses on so he went running back into the bedroom to grab them and then dashed to the door and said, “WHERE!? WHERE ARE THEY?” And said  . . . wait for it . . . April Fool.

Watching: Call the Midwife. I’m so happy it’s finally available here. And also Grace & Frankie and Homeland. Just one more week on that and I can’t even begin to predict how they will wrap this up.

Reading: The State of the Onion. It’s light and easy and just what I needed after the last (horrible) book I finished.

Knitting: Those same damn socks for Dale and that same damn Peace Cowl. Seriously.

Selling: LipSense. It’s a great product and I really enjoy sharing it with others. You can find more information here if you’re curious.

Listening to: S-Town and really enjoying it. If you haven’t started yet or haven’t gotten very far just trust me when I say, it’s not what you think. Give it a listen.

Drinking: Lots of beer. We’ve been having a great time visiting local breweries and I’ve discovered a new fondness for beer, particularly rich chocolate-y porters.

Planning: Our trip to Charleston. It’s almost here so if you’ve got last minute ideas and suggestions for us, send them please.

  1. I enjoyed State of the Onion and have read most of the series over the years. I will confess I haven’t been able to pick up the next book in the series since the election.

  2. I really love the 1SE idea. Two of my IG friends have been doing it for a while and their monthly recaps are amazing and fun. I’m always surprised how much you can get into just one second! and Homeland. I fear things are not going to go well for Carrie and I’m not even sure I’ll be able to watch *insert that YIKES! emoji here*

  3. I have been knitting on my damn Peace Cowl for what feels like forever. It will probably be too late to wear it this year by the time I finally finish it, but I’m afraid if I don’t finish it now, I’ll never pick it back up again. I gave up on S-Town because it didn’t really grab me, but you’ve made me think it deserves another try. Have fun in Charleston!

  4. I’m right there with you on S-Town! I’m trying not to listen to ALL of the episodes at once . . . to kind of savor it a bit. But . . .WOW! And I can’t wait to see your #100days project unfold! I’m intrigued! XO

  5. I’m also picking away at the damn Peace Cowl. That may or may not stay in the rotation. I do like the completed pieces I’ve seen though. Have a great trip to Charleston…nice city. Don’t have much to recommend though except a carriage ride for sure. Off to check out S-Town!

  6. Looking forward to following your project on Instagram. 🙂

I felt the same way about the peace cowl–like it would never end! But I love the result.

  7. I love your 100 days project idea, Carole! I think you will rock it! And, 1SE for the freaking win! I mean really! Brilliant, my friend! XO

  8. I still need to catch up on last season of Grace and Frankie. I love that show. I downloaded S Town but haven’t listened yet. Sounds interesting…

  9. Your 1 Sec videos are going to be so cool to watch. S-Town….wow. It’s not what you think right up until the end. whew My world does not allow much TV and I’m always hearing about great new shows. I haven’t made it through season 2 of F&G. oh well

  10. Love your 1 Second video idea – can’t wait to see. I’m just not into Frankie & Grace – waiting for the new season of House of Cards (May 30th last I heard)…though that may be too close to reality???

  11. Carole, As usual you are full of great ideas! I am going to love seeing your video. What color is that you are wearing? Just curious. I like it. What was the last horrible book you read?

  12. If you like fried chicken, go to Martha Lou’s Kitchen in Charleston. Go for lunch as they run out of items later in the afternoon.
Other excellent restaurants are Poogans Porch and Cru Cafe

  13. Love call the midwife. Haven’t seen the new season yet. When you head to Charleston you must try shrimp and grits, and walk around the battery.
