Three On Thursday

February 22, 2018 By Carole

Apparently when I say “posting will be erratic” what I really mean is, see you in a week. I didn’t set out to take the whole week off from blogging but I pretty much did. Since it’s Thursday I will catch you up on the happenings around here with 3 photos. And some words to go with them, of course.

Photo Number One.

Dinner last Saturday night: swordfish, seared in the cast iron pan on the stove and then finished in the oven with blistered tomatoes and roasted asparagus. So delicious! And, since swordfish is Dale’s favorite, it counted as our Valentine’s celebration, too. We ate in the living room by the wood stove and it was lovely.

Photo Number Two.

Dale and Jack with grins. I just love that little smile on Jackie and the big smile on Dale is great, too. Jack is getting bigger by the minute and is now clocking in at nearly 17 lbs! He just had his 4 month check up and is doing very well. This photo is from Tuesday and Jessica and I had just taken Jack for his first ever walk around the neighborhood – which is the neighborhood where Jess grew up so that’s pretty cool. It was a beautiful afternoon and Jack did great. In other words, he slept through the whole thing.

Photo Number Three.

Happy Hour on the deck on Wednesday afternoon. We broke the record high temperature yesterday and it was glorious. Not only did I take the Mustang out with the top down but I wore flip flops, too. Cocktail hour outside is always our favorite way to have it but when it’s in the middle of winter it’s even sweeter.

Hope your week has been sweet, too! I’m off to SPA this morning so I’ll be spending the weekend spinning and knitting, eating and drinking, laughing and gabbing with some of my favorite people. In other words, it’s pretty much like every weekend around here.

Oh, man! Flip flops! That’s awesome in February! We had a couple of warm days earlier this week — but not quite flip flop weather. Especially because the warm weather was accompanied by inches of rain! But you give me hope. Flip flops and drinks on the patio. Ahhhhhhh.

Have a great time this weekend! XO

We’ve been topping out in the teens lately, so I have mixed feelings about those bare feet outside. In any event, have a SPAtacular weekend!

Have a great time at SPA-I am sooo behind on my blogs. Today was a top down ride home with temps near 80! I know that means once we get used to these lovely days we’re gonna get hit up the side of the head in April or May with a cold snap. I will enjoy it while I can. Jack and Dale look so cute together!

I actually started learning about making sourdough bread a week before the stay at home orders thanks to @sprboston as he shared his starter and recipe and technique with me. Since then I have kept Mama Cass fed and alive and have baked many loaves of bread. This one might be my best one yet. I did the final proof in the fridge for 24 hours and baked it from its cold state. Great spring and ear and crumb, it was delicious with dinner tonight. #sourdough #sourdoughbread #lookatthatcrumb #lookatthatear #homebakedbread #imadeitmyself #homemadeisbest
