Eye Candy Friday

I shared this photo on Instagram the other day and said how the smell of lilacs brings me right back to my childhood. The reason is because we had a giant hedge of lilacs growing down the entire side of our driveway. The scent was so strong and heady and I loved it. Now I find them too powerful to bring inside but I love to breath in their scent when I’m outside and it really does remind me of the home where I grew up.

I love that flowers are everywhere this time of year – it’s so easy to snap and share beautiful photos! I hope you’ll find some wherever you are this weekend, too.

  1. We also had a hedge of lilacs that I remember fondly. Such a lovely old fashioned flower.

    Happy weekend!

  2. Beautiful photo Carole. I remember picking lilacs and bringing them to my teacher when I was young. I love them.

  3. Oh, lilacs! They are just “heady”, and I don’t encounter them often enough. Thanks for sharing this beautiful photo, Carole. It reminds me of my childhood as well. Happy Friday!

  4. I have a lilac just outside my kitchen window and I love how the smell wafts in occasionally. It is the best smell! Have an awesome weekend! XO

  5. We lived in the woods when I was growing up and didn’t have lilacs nearby. I’ve always wanted them and the lilac I planted here years ago finally has blossoms! I’m envious of your hedge, and your photo is so lovely that I can almost smell them!

  6. Gorgeous! We have them all around in our neighborhood…almost wild. Our tree is short on blooms this year but I think it has doubled in size! Have a wonderful weekend Carole!

  7. We had lilacs when we lived in Wyoming, but I remember the magnolias from my grandparent’s backyard in southern Alabama. That smell still takes me back there!

  8. Lilacs are one of my favorite flowers. They remind me of the large lilacs at my Grandparents’ home. Eye candy indeed.
