Sometimes Mondays

Are the start of the shortest work week of the year. Of course, that’s work-work not home-work . . . as in Thanksgiving work. Yesterday I made enough pie crust to make 5 pies, my major contribution to the dinner every year.

In case you need a refresher on my pie crust recipe, you can find it here.

Good luck with everything you have to get done this week!

  1. My nephew’s new fiancée is making the pie I usually bring this year. So yesterday was about fruitcake cookies and condensing the turkey stock for travel. Onward!

  2. I’m gong to buy some GF pie crusts today and hope they will make an ok pie. It will have to be about the filling, methinks. I’m excited to have dinner for Smith’s family. I’ve been putting on my best Carole impression as I want the food to be yummy!

  3. and just like that… PIE SEASON is upon us! I can’t wait to see what yummy creations you will make this year! XO

  4. I decided that this year I want to have fun, or at least enjoy myself, so I’m doing a little bit each day. Yesterday was for baking stuffing bread, today was cranberry day. The house smells good each day!

  5. We’re still looking for our main course (that’s not a full-blown turkey… and also E-Z). Rusty’s all about the pies, and he’ll surely be starting soon. I bought a can of cranberry sauce at the store yesterday. Hahaha!

  6. We’ve scaled down our plans for the feast this year, but there is still much to be done! Enjoy your preparations, Carole. XO
PS – I want to learn to make pie crust! (It’s on my 60 for 60 list. . . )

  7. We celebrated this past Saturday with our kids as they will be gone, so no baking this week for me as I did it last week. Oh, wait, I think it’s my turn to bring treats for choir on Sunday……..

  8. I made pie crusts today and stuck them in the freezer. I did my make-ahead turkey stock last Friday and froze that, recipe courtesy of Carole! It is so nice to have the gravy ready to go before the last minute rush. Thanks again, Carole! Plenty of work to be done this week, but I am determined to enjoy it as much as possible.

  9. My hat is off to anyone who makes good pie crust. My contribution is homemade rolls and a cranberry nut salad. Happy Thanksgiving.
