Weekending

It was a very . . . normal . . . weekend around here. No trips out of town, no big plans with friends, no car purchases or any of the other things that our weekends have been taken up with lately.

In other words, it was just what the doctor ordered.

We had our usual Friday Night Snacks with napkins chosen specifically because it was International Women’s Day.

We got to spend some time with Jackie on Saturday while his mama went to an appointment. The little bugger took a long nap, meaning he pretty much slept the whole time he was here, but when he got up we went outside to enjoy the sunshine and mild temps.

In the evening we went to a local fundraiser. Last year we went with a big group of friends but this year it was just Dale and I and that was pretty nice, too. Plus we won a gift card to a local restaurant and a big gift card for a local company that rents tents and moonwalks and stuff. We’ll get a nice discount next time we throw a big bash!

We spent Sunday sorting and clearing out our bureau drawers since our bedroom furniture is being taken away this week to be painted. It’s the start of our bedroom redo and, while it’s simple stuff like removing wallpaper and painting, I’m still pretty excited about it. I’ll share before and after photos as we go along. We also spent some time going through things that have accumulated in the attic, including identifying stuff that our children have left behind even though they don’t live here anymore.  Time for that stuff to go, too!

We ended the weekend much the way we began, with cheese and crackers and a cocktail. And perfect napkins for Daylight Savings Time.

And that’s about it. Nothing very significant but perfect nevertheless.

  1. It happens every Monday (and frequently throughout the week, too)! I read your post, see your snacks, and I’m immediately hungry. Triscuits and summer sausage would be great for breakfast!

  2. Sometimes the best thing ever is a weekend that is full of not really anything. I can’t wait to see your bedroom redo!

  3. A bedroom redo sounds like fun! Plus getting rid of stuff – always good. I love those napkins you used at the end of the weekend – so true!!!

  4. Spiffing up the place will feel so good! We’re getting new carpeting this week! I’m thrilled and a little worried about how we’re going to get all the furniture moved!

  5. A relaxing weekend is often the most enjoyable kind!

I hope the bedroom project goes quickly and easily, with minimum disruption. I’m always amazed by what a big difference little changes can make, and sometimes just a little spiffing up can go a long way.

  6. You need a restful weekend occasionally, Carole, even though I know you like to be on the go. Jack is beginning to look less like a baby and more like a little boy, especially in this picture. WAH! I hope you have a good week, with lots of good things in it. Happy Monday!

  7. Perfect weekend Carole! I’m hoping for a bedroom re-do this summer. It’s the only room in the house that hasn’t had something done to it. I think it’s currently circa 1976! 🙂 Happy Monday!

  8. Can’t wait to see what you do with your bedroom. I have been thinking about jazzing ours up but don’t know where to start! I noticed you enjoyed a can of smoked oysters. We always had those on special occasions when I was growing up. Might be a Boston thing. My grandmother grew up in Boston until she migrated to California when she was in her 20s.

  9. oh my. I LOVE having a WHOLE DAY between Saturday and Sunday 🙂 also, I think you need to start another side hustle selling cocktail napkins!
