Three On Thursday

First, because every blog post deserves a photo, and because he hasn’t been featured here for a bit, my most recent photo of Jackie:

And second, because my thoughts are all over the place right now, three random things for this week’s post:

  1. Thank you all so very much for your best wishes and congratulations on Hannah and Mikey’s engagement! I loved reading all of them and the social media response on Instagram and Facebook has been outstanding, too. There aren’t any specific plans yet but I don’t anticipate a long engagement for these two. And, the idea of a backyard wedding has been floated. Pray for me on that one, friends.
  2. I went and had a physical yesterday. It’s my first one in about 4 years and I was scared and nervous . . . but I did it. And the Nurse Practitioner was kind and friendly and didn’t judge me at all for ignoring my health. I’m waiting on blood test results and of course I’m convinced that they will find a million things wrong so if you could send some good vibes my way I’d definitely be appreciative.
  3. I ordered a cricut yesterday! I’ve been toying with getting one for ages and a conversation with my friend Rose, plus the fact that they are having a terrific sale on machines and bundles right now, pushed me to just.do.it. I’m very excited about making all the things, especially things for Jackie as well as labels for essential oil roller balls and more. It’s all a little overwhelming but in a good, fun way. Oh, one more thing . . .  I haven’t told Dale yet so let’s just keep this between us, mmmkay?

And those are my three things for today. Happy Thursday, it’s almost the weekend!

  1. Bad girl! Consider yourself scolded for not taking better care of YOU! Four years is too long between physicals. Waiting for results is the worse part. Have feeling everything is ok with results. Enjoy the journey ahead with Hannah and Mikey. Congratulations to all.

  2. A backyard wedding sounds lovely, as long as the weather is good. I hope planning for whatever they decide goes smoothly. Sending good blood test vibes, and I don’t think you should worry about those four years. You’re paying attention to your health now and that’s what matters. And I won’t mention a word to Dale!

  3. It’s super easy to ignore or postpone those health checks. My best motivation is remembering all the folks I want to be there for. And all the people I would hate to lose because they ignored their health. If I were you I’d refocus those concerns on the possibility of a ‘backyard wedding’. But that pergola is kind of made for such an event, isn’t it?!

  4. You made me laugh this morning! Thank you! So….we had a backyard wedding reception. And I have to say, if it hadn’t been for my talented MIL it NEVER would have happened. If they do go that route, maybe a short engagement will be best. You won’t have too much time to think about it! Based on your recent pics you’ve posted, it will be gorgeous no matter what.

  5. There is a local meteorologist here who has a YouTube channel for her DIY projects, and she is always using her cricut machine! I’d never even heard of one until I saw her videos.

    Good luck!

I hope whatever Hannah and Mikey decide, they will be happy. I for one am all about small weddings.

  6. That face! I can’t believe how big he is getting!

And, BRAVO to you for getting in to see a doctor! I am sending good mojo your way for positive test results!

I think a backyard wedding would be lovely! But, yes – I get the panic about all that! XO

  7. What a cutie Jackie is! Glad you got to the doctor – it IS important. So congratulations on that and I hate waiting for results…I just had my physical and I’ve scheduled my mammo and dexascan for 2 weeks from now. Fingers crossed all is good.

I’m all about small weddings and a backyard one sounds awesome. Your place is lovely, so no worries!!

  8. Oh my goodness! Jackie is a little human now, he’s lost his baby look! Wow! They grow up so fast!
I’m jealous of your Cricut. I’ve been wanting one for ages. I have no idea what I’d do with it…. but I want one. Desperately.

  9. Jackie!! I know I say it every time, but HE (REALLY DOES) JUST KEEP GETTING CUTER ALL THE TIME!

Ali & Rod had a backyard wedding… at Rod’s parents’ (whew!). It wasn’t too big, and that helped, plus everyone pitched in and it was really fun (they tell me, because I was running around like a chicken even so…).

  10. What a cutie pie!

Good for you for going for your physical! I think NPs are the best, not least because they usually have more time than MDs and can actually spent a proper amount of time with you.

  11. Jackie is just uber cute. I am dumbfounded at Jackie’s engagement—isn’t she a teenager lol. What fun you have in store. Best wishes for all of you.

  12. That face! He is going to be a charmer, for sure. I look forward to your adventures with your new machine. I am unsure of everything they can do. If anyone can manage a backyard wedding, Carole, it is YOU. It’s all about the love, so don’t fret if they go that way. It doesn’t need to be perfect, just memorable. I recommend that you just make your next appointment before you leave the medical office. A check up every year is smart, and it becomes routine, so less fretting is involved. It’s good for your healthcare provider to get to know you and have a history with you. I’ll send all good vibes your way, Carole.

  13. Jackie DOES get cuter with every snap you take. I had no idea what a cricut was, but it sounds very cool (and fun!). You’ve got a thing for Utah products, just sayin’. 😉
