Pie Day!

  • Food

I uploaded this photo to Instagram and Facebook yesterday.

It’s my Pie Plan for 2019 and I’m happy to say it’s on track. Of course, that only means I made 4 batches of pie crusts yesterday but still . . . I’m feeling organized and ready to go when I get home from work later today.

Four batches of pie crust at once might sound intimidating but it really only took about 45 minutes from start to finish  . . .  start being getting out my ingredients and finish being all cleaned up and ready to move on. Here’s my pie crust recipe if you need a refresher. It’s easy and pretty fool proof and I encourage you to just give it a try.

Hopefully by tomorrow I’ll have a counter that looks similar to this once again:

  1. Pie for everybody! We happen to be #TeamCobbler this year, but it’s always nice to see your beautiful pies.

  2. Fantastic plan. I am focusing on the gravy base and dressing. And remembered at 5:30 am that there needs to be a meal this evening. And right now, checking in and casting on sick #2 for my niece.

  3. I have so much admiration for the pie bakers. My job for tomorrow is getting the table set and making sure the bathrooms are guest ready

  4. 2 easy ones for me – chocolate cream and squash. They won’t be as pretty as those but heck – I’ll curl some chocolate over the top! Have fun today!

  5. I always feel better when I have a plan written down! (And I wish I could sample each and every one of your pies. . . ) Sending all the pie-baking juju your way today, Carole. XO

  6. Yummy sounding pies. My pie crust recipe reads, “Go to store, find freezer section….” The trickiest part of the recipe is trying to remember if I need regular or deep dish. I definitely classify as a lazy baker.
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  7. I’m only making two pumpkin pies here, but someday I’m going to branch out and try cranberry pecan or one of your other delicious-looking ones. They are all beautiful!

  8. Yum, those pies look scrumptious! Thanks for sharing the link to the crust recipe — I’ll definitely be filing that away. Just wondering, have you ever done butter instead of shortening?

  9. First year we’re not hosting Thanksgiving; the kids have invited us down to Naples. I’m still baking two pies (usually six)and dinner rolls. I finished making the cranberry sauce, and have a roasted sweet potato, mushroom and green bean side still to do. Then there’s the chocolate crinkle cookies that I’m taking as a surprise for the son’s girlfriend who is cooking tomorrow. They’re her favorite!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  10. Wow! Those pies are picture perfect and I bet the ones for this year are equally as pretty. I imagine they taste great. Your family/friends are lucky to have you and your pies. Happy Thanksgiving.
