Vacation Snow Day

February 24, 2020 By Carole

Hello, hello! I said I’d drop in and blog last week and then . . .  I didn’t. I’d say I’m sorry but the reality is that we were relaxed and happy and blogging felt too much like work. I have a bunch of videos to pull together and some photos to share of food and drink but in the meantime I’m sharing these photos from last Tuesday.

It snowed all day long and it was beautiful. We had planned ahead and laid in supplies (wine and beer) and and the fixings for a pot roast dinner. Around mid afternoon, though, everyone was feeling a little restless so we headed out in the snow to get some fresh air.

It was snowing hard and we had a great time trudging around the neighborhood. And when we came back in the smell of pot roast filled the house and the warm air after the cold air helped Jackie go down for a much needed nap.

It was a perfect day.

Glad you were relaxed and happy and able to let the rest go. It’s silly if you’re used to posting every day, it feels like a big thing to skip a few days. But I’m slowly learning that it’s not a big thing, the blog can wait 😉
I love the snow pictures! It looks like you had so much fun!

Having too much fun to work is an excellent vacation feeling. Even going out in the snow feels less like work when it’s for fun and exploring instead of having to get somewhere by a specific time. Well done.

This looks like so much fun! It’s been a while since we had a proper snow day here, and honestly for as much as I hate dealing with the snow, it’s always a blast to go out and play in it and then come it to hot chocolate and yummy warm food.

It sounds and looks like the perfect day from here as well. I’m so glad you had a great time, and the blog can wait. It doesn’t get any better than relaxed and happy. Hope it continues.

If there’s one thing the pandemic has been good If there’s one thing the pandemic has been good for, it’s my sourdough game. I actually started learning about making sourdough bread a week before the stay at home orders thanks to @sprboston as he shared his starter and recipe and technique with me. Since then I have kept Mama Cass fed and alive and have baked many loaves of bread. This one might be my best one yet. I did the final proof in the fridge for 24 hours and baked it from its cold state. Great spring and ear and crumb, it was delicious with dinner tonight. #sourdough #sourdoughbread #lookatthatcrumb #lookatthatear #homebakedbread #imadeitmyself #homemadeisbest
