As I look around right now all I see are leaves on the ground. They are lovely and yellow, they crunch when I walk through them, and they have a distinctive musky-sweet smell that I would know anywhere.

Our leaves are wet and messy after so much rain but the colors are still lovely.
I’ve been loving your pics and comments on your outdoor activities this fall. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania and this time of year is what I miss the most. You never forget the sounds and smells of the leaves in autumn.
I’m with you, I love the leaves, the color, the smell, the crunch, the crisp weather than accompanies their fall. I raked leaves for hours earlier in the week, and although it was work, it was quite pleasant. I love this time of the year. I wish we could stretch it out a bit! I love to crunch through the leaves on a walk! and gosh, I totally forgot to check in about the Brewster Place questions. Maybe one of you posted about the Zoom … still catching up, so I guess I’ll see. Switching gears, I think pie tastes are a good thing to know. I sure hope Mikey’s meld well with your three. well, at least one of them! I think your three cover the bases … unless all he likes are summer pies. and really, I can’t imagine that!

We don’t have a ton of deciduous trees around here because it’s so dry. My most memorable autumn smell is burning ditches or sometimes fields. Although we’re now so dry (and much more populous) so that is often outlawed. In fact, if you start a wildfire that way, you’ll be getting a bill for the response.
I love the sound and smell and feel of crunching through fall leaves. It actually makes me a little sad to see so many landscapers out gathering them and getting rid of them in the neighborhood!
