Three On Thursday

So. Dale and I have been quarantined at home since Monday morning. We are feeling fine and are symptom free and awaiting test results. I am not going to share the details of how we came to be in this situation but I will just say . . . this virus is everywhere right now and I urge you to do everything you can to stay safer at home. In light of all of this, or maybe just because, I’m going with 3 random things this Thursday.

  1. Being home has put me back in that weird time/space thing I was in back in March. I’m working from home (well, as much as a librarian can anyway) and find that the days fly by and even though I’m doing lots I’m not getting to everything. You know? I get up early and make my list for the day and then it’s 3pm and I’ve only done a few things. It feels like everything just takes so.much.longer right now in a way that I can’t really explain. Just tell me you feel it too, okay?
  2. We bought new furniture last year and had it delivered in early January. Guess what we didn’t consider? The placement of our Christmas tree! It has always been in the corner of our living room but now we have these two swivel/glider chairs that we really love taking up part of that space. There isn’t anywhere else in the room that the chairs will work. And there isn’t anywhere else in the room that the tree will work. So our Christmas tree is in the dining room this year. It looks pretty there (I’ll share a photo once it’s all decorated, that was on my list for last night but I didn’t get to it . . . see #1) but I can’t see it from the living room and that makes me a little sad.
  3. Have you seen this Dumpster Fire 2020 ornament on Ravelry? I want to make it for everyone I know.

And that’s all I’ve got for you this week. If you wrote a post please share it below!

  1. Oh, my! I hope you and Dale continue to be healthy and feel good. With this many cases, the virus really is everywhere and it’s getting more difficult to avoid. I’ve got family members that assumed they were safe on their farm, but it turns out they were not and now six of them are sick. Stay safe, healthy, and I hope you get used to your Christmas tree in its new location.

  2. Yeah, it’s weird. I’m busy all day, but nothing gets finished.
Sincere wishes that you avoid sickness.

  3. Oh help! I join Bonny in wishing that you and Dale continue in good health (and that the tests are negative!) I am also engaged in Where to Put the Christmas Tree… and I am like you in the “I don’t want to rearrange the living room” camp… hmmm, dining room is a viable option maybe! Thank you for that inspiration! (look at you, in quarantine and STILL helping others!)

Also… I laughed right out loud at that ornament!

  4. Wishing you both good health! Perhaps dinner in the dining room would help you enjoy the tree in a new way? (For some reason I’m thinking you mostly eat in the kitchen, but my virtual version of your house could be incorrect.)

  5. I hope you both continue to feel okay and get negative test results! We are also quarantining right now (we haven’t gotten tested, but my brother tested positive after he was briefly in our house on Thanksgiving to do our food exchange — and it’s especially worrisome because he’s been fanatic about being safe).

If you like the dumpster fire ornament and want another perfect-for-2020 knit item (and don’t object to cursing), I give you this little beauty: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fuck-the-exasperation-hat

  6. You’re in the right place, albeit restricted! Hopefully you’ll have the all clear soon! Some people aren’t at work, which makes me worry. With privacy issues no-one says a peep till they return. My days seem to be busy but there’s an inertia too. Nice hearing from you. x

  7. Sending the good juju . . . always. XO
Sorry about the tree situation. I’m betting you’ll adjust . . . and make up for the lack of tree-in-the-living-room with other delightful decor! (Or . . . just go hang out in that cozy, festive bedroom of yours.) 🙂

  8. Oh dear! Hope you and Dale continue to feel well and that your test results come back NEGATIVE!!!
Our house is SO small, that we always have to remove a chair and usually an end table too from the living room in order to put up our tree. This year that’s fine as we don’t expect any company anyway!!

  9. Oh gosh, I hope you and Dale are okay. Sending healthy thoughts your way. And yes, I know exactly what you mean about the time thing. You know how there’s “island time”? Well, I think there’s also covid time.
The ornament is cute and pretty much sums up 2020 but there were so many businesses completely destroyed because of spreading/exploding dumpster fires here during the riots that I can’t bring myself to support the image.

  10. Sending all the best BE WELL wishes! (and totally getting your point #1 – it feels like we’re in a time warp with the painting – and hopefully we’ll both be “coming free” at the same time next week!)

  11. Oh, drat, Carole! I hate to hear that, but I am glad you are both still feeling well. Keep it that way, ya hear? Yes, I have been in a time warp for months and months. It’s hard to keep up with what day it is sometimes. So, my to do list is a challenge as well. 2020 is almost over. That’s the best thing I can say for it. Love the ornament.

  12. My Christmas tree has been in my dining room for the entirety of us living in this house – completely due to space. Though we can’t see it when “relaxing” in the evening we do walk through the room all day and it looks really pretty in there. I hope you come to love yours there. Sorry about the quarantine…2020 really does need to gooooooooooooo.

  13. That’s exactly what my cousin in Duluth said a month ago when she was awaiting test results after her husband was positive following exposure at work. It’s everywhere. Bummer. Wishing the best for you guys.

  14. Hope you continue to be symptom free, and know the test-result-waiting is NO fun. I get you on the time flying by. My list seems so small, but little gets checked off [or so it seems]. I also feel you on the Christmas tree placement issue. Our house is very small compared to others we’ve had, so we have to move out our only table to the basement [carefully] so we have a place for the tree. It is worth it cause you can see it from the street, and who doesn’t like twinkle lights when you’re driving down the street.
