Three On Thursday

I have a somewhat unusual day ahead of me, doing some things I don’t normally do. Since it’s Thursday I’ve decided to tell you about 3 of them.

  1. I’m attending a virtual municipal conference. Last year I attended this conference in Boston in person with my colleagues (both from the Board of Selectmen and from work) and Dale. It was informative and inspiring and FUN. This year the conference is virtual and I don’t anticipate having nearly as much fun. Still, I’m going to give it a go and participate and hopefully learn some things and get some insight.
  2. I’m having a baseline bone density test this afternoon. I know it’s a simple and painless procedure – you literally just lay down – and I’m glad my doctor ordered it. But. It also sort of means I’m officially old. Boo.
  3. I’m going to work on my One Little Word notebook. Now, on the one hand this is not unusual for me since I’ve been choosing One Little Word for quite a few years now. What is unusual, however, is that I’ve decided to actually follow the prompts from Ali Edwards and create a journal of my experiences. I haven’t done this part of the process since 2017 and I’m looking forward to playing with paper and stamps and pens and documenting my process.

And that’s my day ahead in a nutshell. If you wrote a post for today I hope you will add your link below!

P.S. Yesterday was a very, very good day.

  1. I loved the bone density test! (What’s not to like about wearing sweatpants and lying down?!) Yesterday was wonderful, and today is pretty good so far, too. I love waking up without an overwhelming feeling of worry and dread!

  2. I am planning to work on my OLW pages today too. It will be my first time with the official kit and album. Check in on me and see if I actually put pen to paper – I have a fear of the blank page!

  3. I did a small group retreat over Zoom in the fall, with a year-long group I participate in. While I felt way more connected to my peers than I’d expected to, I think what I missed most were the snacks & constantly refreshed coffee carafe!

  4. As the getting-old tests go, I’d have a completely easy and painless bone density test any day over things like mammograms and colonoscopies!

I hope the conference is still interesting and useful even if it’s not as exciting because it’s all online. Perhaps you can work on prettying up your journal while you listen!

  5. The bone density test is going to be the easiest medical test you ever do! Sounds like a busy day, Carole, hope it is more fun that than you think. Yes, yesterday was just fabulous, and I am over the moon.

  6. Yea, virtual conferences are just not the same, but on the other hand they’ll never know what you really have in that coffee mug or whether or not you are wearing pants! Old, now that’s a dirt three letter word.
