Kitties!

When my sweet kitty Mason died 3 years ago I said that was it. No more pets. And I meant it. For a while I truly enjoyed the freedom of not having a pet to worry about. But about a year ago I started softening and missing having a cat. I started looking at photos of Siamese kittens. I joined a Facebook group for finding Siamese kittens in my area. I messaged a breeder and was put on a waiting list. As it turned out, that situation didn’t pan out, but a different breeder came through for me and last Friday, exactly 3 years and one day from the day that Mason left us, these two babies joined our family.

Their names are Fred and George, after the Weasley Twins in Harry Potter. And they are the sweetest.

They have adjusted pretty quickly and are playing, eating, and sleeping on a rotating basis. They sleep quite a bit, in fact, and they always sleep snuggled up together. It’s truly the cutest thing.

Also very cute? When they are in separate rooms and call to each other. One will meow and then the other will answer and they keep meowing until they find each other. So adorable! I’m pretty sure the fact that they have each other has helped immensely with their adjustment.

It’s so nice to have kitties in the house again.

  1. They are sooo sweet and precious. Enjoy them. Siamese are very intelligent as you know.

  2. I totally miss my Siamese girls, but I’m 76. I can’t promise a kitty I’ll be their meowmy for the next 20 years! So I’ll just look forward to watching your boys grow up.

    1. I’m a serial pet fosterer, and I can promise that lots of cats would love to land in your loving home for a season, Barbara!

(My current foster is a loud, bossy, sassy senior lady who knows she’s the queen of the world, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. She’s been with us for 18 months, and she’ll probably live out her days with us.)

  3. Not just one, but two cute kitties! It looks like you missed having a pet twice as much as you thought. (I also wonder how you tell Fred and George apart.)

  4. I am not a cat person, but these two are the cutest! I hope you enjoy having new family members, because that is definitely what they are. It’s great that you took them both and that they get to stay together.

  5. awww, so precious. How I miss my Siamese kitty every day! I am sure they are so happy to be in a loving home together. Congrats on your new babies!

  6. Aw, they are THE CUTEST!!! I’m looking forward to watching them grow!

It’s not even 3 months since Duncan died (seems way longer!) and I’m still firmly in the “no more” camp. But who knows? Maybe I’ll be ready, too, in 2.75 more years, give or take! 🙂

  7. So cute! Our sweet kitty died in August and we are waiting a little while before we get a new one (or two)! When the time is right, the kitties find the right owner.

  8. Congratulations on the new kittens! I adopted two B&W tuxedoes a year ago this past weekend to join my two cats who were twelve at the time. I named them Ozzie and Harry.

  9. Having a pet last year helped me make it through the loneliness of the pandemic. I was surprised to see you decided to fill the void of a missing pet and quite delighted for you, too! Fred and George will be a great addition to your family. And, that they have each other will help with your adjustment of caring for pets once again. Your life will be enriched!

  10. argh, I hate to pile on, but I just have to add in my love those brothers(? – also funny that I never think of siamese cats as boys, always girls?) and I can’t help smiling thinking how blessed they are to have landed in your home!!
