Three On Thursday

My post is a little late today because I didn’t get home last night until about midnight because . . . I was at the Paul McCartney concert at Fenway Park with my daughter, Hannah! What a night! I’m going to sum it up in 3 thoughts . . .

  1. Paul McCartney puts on an amazing show! He came on about 7:20 and the show ended at 10:05. He never took a break, he sang lead on every song, and he was super entertaining. The playlist was just about perfect and included plenty of Wings and Beatles music. The fireworks during Live and Let Die were fabulous! He had so much energy throughout the performance and it was very clear that he still loves to entertain.
  2. I was surprised at how emotional I was throughout the show. I was overcome when he came out and started to cry . . . that was completely unexpected. Blackbird was also really emotional and Let It Be was beautiful and moved me to tears yet again. I thought I might tear up during Hey Jude because it’s my favorite but I felt nothing but joy while he did that one. Finally, Golden Slumbers . . . oh man. I used to sing that (badly) to Hannah when she was a baby and to be at the show with her and have him do it was a really amazing moment.
  3. Fenway Park is a great place to see a concert. It was my first time going there for anything other than a Red Sox game and I wasn’t sure what to expect but the vibe was great. The security felt good, like it was just the right amount without interfering with anyone’s fun, if that makes sense. The food and drink was expensive but I didn’t even care because I was just so happy to be there. Our seats were great, too. We were right in the middle, in the second level of loge seats. I would definitely go to Fenway for a concert again should the right act come along.

Thanks for indulging me as I gushed about this show! And if you wrote a post for today, please include your link below.

  2. Just reading about this show made me tear up a bit. What memories. What a man! Thank you for sharing.

  3. I just flashed back to a bunch of summer memories with this post. Thanks for that, and glad you enjoyed it so much.

  4. Sounds like it was a wonderful night! I’m also glad to hear he still puts on a great show, because I’d love to see him live someday!

  5. So great Carole! (Yes to the tears!) And I agree Fenway is a great place to see a show!

  6. He sure did put on a great show! I was there on Tuesday and was amazed that he could sing for 2 hours and 45 minutes without a break. I loved his stories in between songs. It was very evident that he still enjoys performing.

  7. Have you ever seen the extended Carpool Karaoke where James Corden drives around Liverpool with Paul McCartney and they visit his childhood home? I can’t get through that without crying.

  8. I’m so glad you were able to go … and simply AMAZED McCartney is still able to perform at that level after all these years. What a cool experience to share with Hannah!
