Tuesday Recs

If you’re someone who saves recipes you find on the internet, this recommendation is for you.

Get yourself a subscription to Plan to Eat. It’s an online recipe program that lets you save recipes you find online as well as add your own recipes. You can queue recipes you want to remember to use, you can create menus and meal plans, and you can even create and export a shopping list for the grocery store. You can use it on a desktop or on a device.

I’ve been using this consistently for years and currently have over 500 recipes saved. When I tell you that I use it daily, I mean it.

They have an annual Black Friday Sale and the app is 50% off, just $24.50 for an annual subscription. AND if you set up auto renewals, you can get it for that price every year going forward.

I do have a referral code, so if you decide to make a purchase I’d love for you to use it. And while I sure don’t mean for this to sound like a commercial, I hope you know I wouldn’t recommend this unless I really believed it could be helpful.

  1. This is a cool idea. I’ve thought many times of setting up recipe files, but I never have. BUT…I’m not on my laptop or phone very much. Mostly just in the morning to blog and read blogs. AND, I LOVE going through all the recipe cards I have – many in my Mom’s handwriting. Just like I enjoy going through my (many, many) cookbooks. Some have pressed flowers or Fall leaves that my Mom gathered. There are just so many memories!!

  2. I think my daughter was talking about this as well! (I am always sending her things… lol) Thanks for the recommendation!

  3. It sounds like a good deal on a Really Useful App, Carole. I have my own system (using Evernote) that I have used and perfected for years. It works for me. That app, though, would appeal if I hadn’t already created and curated my Evernote system . . .

  4. I don’t comment often, but….check out the Paprika recipe manager app. It is a one time cost, Works on your phone and syncs with your laptop. And it works w/o wifi….handy for when we are at our cabin up north.
Does the same thing as what you are describing without any cost after initial purchase.

  5. Hmm … this sounds worthy of consideration. I should plan meals more than I do, and that might prevent last-minute trips to the grocery store.

  6. This sounds so helpful! And it certainly sounds more organized than my current method of scraps of paper shoved into a bookshelf plus bookmarked recipes online.
