I immediately put them on my beach chair and took a photo.

The shadows are a little harsh in that picture, though, so I looked around for another – better – spot.

I spied this lifeguard chair and decided to pose my socks right there. Sure, I may have gotten some strange looks from other beach goers but if strange looks bothered me I wouldn’t be walking around with Dale. (hahaha, I couldn’t resist.)

Anyway, the chair was a great spot to show off the socks. The white wood and blue ocean really make the green and blues of the sock yarn pop.

Which made me realize that eliminating the chair and holding the socks up with the ocean as the only backdrop would also work.

You know the pattern, the yarn is Yarn Pirate in the color Cassiopeia.

But in my heart they will always be called my South Cape Beach Socks.

The pattern is no surprise.

The yarn is Farmhouse Yarns Fannie’s Fingering in the color “Berries and Caramel.”

I think they are awesome! The colors are beautiful and different from anything else in my sock drawer.

And that’s where these will be – hopefully for a good long time – because I am loving summer right now.

You know the pattern, of course.

The yarn is Madeline Tosh sock yarn and it’s very nice.  The yarn is a little thinner than I prefer for socks, though, and the colors were prettier in the skein than I think they are knit up.

Nevertheless, they are soft and warm and will be a welcome addition to the sock rotation this fall.

I bought annuals and hanging plants and got things planted in the ground and in containers.

I had a fun dinner out with my husband.

I made some final decisions on the menu for the ever-looming graduation party.

I took down the heavy drapes in the living room and put up the sheer curtains and the summer slipcovers.

I knitted in the sunshine on my deck.

I blocked my Morning Surf Scarf.

And I finished my Jitterbug Socks.

It’s my basic sock pattern but in a slightly heavier yarn. I still used 64 stitches but made the legs a little shorter than I usually do to accommodate the shorter yardage of the Colinette Jitterbug.

I was a little nervous on Sunday afternoon that I was going to run out of yarn and then I remembered that I weighed my first finished sock vs the yarn I had left before I started the second sock and I relaxed.

When I finished I put my feet up, took some photos, and relaxed some more.

It was a busy weekend!

I have proof! You can clearly see 2 finished toes in that photo right there. I took it on 4/30/2010, the morning I finished the socks.

I love this yarn as it was dyed in honor of my Eye Candy Friday posts. Sadly, it’s no longer available for those of you wishing to purchase it.

You’ll just have to be envious of my green heels.

And green toes.

There’s no reason to be envious of my lilacs, though.

They have gone by until next year.

The lilacs are growing.

But so are the socks.

I never thought I’d beat the lilacs but I just might do it.

These are the socks for Hannah knit with Knitterly Things Vesper Sock Yarn in the color Serendipitous.

The yarn is amazing and the stripes match perfectly – something Hannah truly loves.

The pattern, natch, is my picot edge sock pattern but knit with 60 stitches instead of 64.

And the model, well, she’s just thrilled to have a new pair of socks.

Which do you think will come to full fruition first?

I was looking at my project page on Ravelry the other day and was shocked to see that I am only on my 3rd pair of socks for 2010. I knew my sock production was down but I didn’t realize it was that far down! And honestly, I have no explanation as to why I haven’t been knitting socks.

Margene calls it sock mojo and I think mine left for a while there. And I think it started when I got pneumonia. I don’t know why pneumonia and sock mojo are not mutually compatible – you’d think they would be – but there you have it.

The great news is that my sock mojo appears to have returned. And the funny thing is that it has returned at a time when you would think it would have fled.

You see, I had a major set back last week on this current pair of socks.  I was knitting and knitting and ignoring that little voice in my head telling me they looked awfully small. I didn’t listen, and I plowed forward until I finally had Hannah try on the first finished sock last Saturday – only to find that she could barely get them over her instep.

Now you would think that this would discourage me from sock knitting even further but the opposite happened. I ripped them out and restarted right then and there and here I am, only a few days later, with an almost completed sock.

I am on fire with the sock knitting.

Welcome back, sock mojo. We’ve got some catching up to do.

I’m back on track now, though, and I’ve got a newly finished pair of socks to show for it.

Behold the Secret Garden Socks. They look great posing with my yellow crocus.

And equally beautiful with the purple crocus in my father-in-law’s yard.

The yarn is Sophie’s Toes in the color Secret Garden. The pattern is Carole’s Picot Edge Sock, of course. And they are a gift for my stepdaughter, Jessica. Things haven’t been easy for her lately and I think these colorful socks will give her a nice little lift.

If I can bear to part with them, that is.
