We had our first killing frost last night. Dipped well below freezing. I hope the remainder of my swiss chard was protected enough. I forgot to harvest the last bits yesterday. *sigh* I hang on to my last gasps of summer. Thanks for the photo.
Isn’t it amazing the colors that mother nature provides for us, everthing from the subdued colors of pebbles on the beach to vibrant flowers such as the zinnias you so kindly shared with us. Have a lovely weekend.
I do love the zinnias… so bold, so bright. I’ve even used them to decorate a cake! I’m not done talking about Rhinebeck… mostly because I haven’t had internet access all week… so it’ll linger a while longer over at my blog… Beer? How’d I miss that? Must’ve been my general fuzzy headedness from the cold. But I did notice the NYS wines and that you could taste them. I used to live in central NY, and the wines out there are FABulous. Can’t get them here in the stores, and last I looked, they couldn’t ship to ME, but one of the sellers told me he thought that my have changed.

margene Said,
The zinnia’s were so colorful and the trees just popped against the clear blue sky. Rhinebeck was a visual treat in every way.

I still have zinnias blooming but they’re definitely on their last legs. The birds will enjoy the seeds, though!
