Wednesdays Are For Knitting: Patriots Scoreboard Cowl

April 27, 2016 By Carole

Waaaaay back in September of last year I cast on for this Patriots Scoreboard Cowl. I chose red for the Pats points and blue for the opposing team points and I knit diligently during most of the games. When I couldn’t knit I spent (a lot!) of time catching up. Let me tell you, there were some high scoring games and that added up to a LOT of rows.

I finally finished it back in February, choosing to end it with the regular season and not continue it on to the post season games. So it’s been done for weeks. And weeks.

I’m finally showing it to you today because 1) I actually took photos of it and 2) I’m pissed off about the latest decision of the courts to uphold Tom Brady’s suspension for 4 games. I know, I know, people think the Pats cheat. Whateverrrr. What I’m pissed about is the unilateral control and power this gives to the NFL and, more specifically, Roger Goodell. I’m not the only one who thinks so and if you’re inclined to read more I’ll direct you to this. And also this.

Anyway. Come this fall and winter I’ll be wearing this proudly and in support of my team. It’s super long and very soft and pretty cool looking with all of those random stripes.

As we say here in New England, Go Pats!

Oh yeah. Project details here.

No comment on Goodell–if he were messing around with my favorite QB, I’d probably feel just like you. A good knitting friend showed off her orange and blue scarf at a knitting retreat a couple of weeks ago. These scarves are fun and very striking!

And if that doesn’t convince you Goodell is evil, watch the movie Concussion. Your scarf, however, is fabulous!

Love it! I started one in navy and orange for my college team, Auburn University. I had lots of navy Cascade 220 Superwash but only one ball of orange. Ordered more of the same colorway but it was awful. Neon orange! Ordered some “burnt” orange from another website and liked it better, but by then Auburn wasn’t doing well and since orange was their opposing teams’ color, there was a LOT of orange. Soooooo…. since I was gonna have to start over with a different orange anyway, I frogged it and am hoping for a better season (and more navy!) this fall! War Eagle!!! 🙂

Very cool! I love the concept — what a fun way to enjoy watching the games. (As you know, I am not a fan of the footballs.) (But the scarf is very cool.)

I finished my Falcons cowl and it’s not only the most expensive cowl ever it’s taller than me. That’s also just the regular season. A great project but won’t do one for next year-too much stress!

Gulp. Oh yeah… time to dig out my Green & Gold version and finish! I sure love how yours looks!!

wow – it turned out great! I love how long it is and what a fun reminder of the season.

If there’s one thing the pandemic has been good If there’s one thing the pandemic has been good for, it’s my sourdough game. I actually started learning about making sourdough bread a week before the stay at home orders thanks to @sprboston as he shared his starter and recipe and technique with me. Since then I have kept Mama Cass fed and alive and have baked many loaves of bread. This one might be my best one yet. I did the final proof in the fridge for 24 hours and baked it from its cold state. Great spring and ear and crumb, it was delicious with dinner tonight. #sourdough #sourdoughbread #lookatthatcrumb #lookatthatear #homebakedbread #imadeitmyself #homemadeisbest
