Three On Thursday

You know what’s happening this Sunday night? The Oscars! And I’m pretty sure you all know how much I love the movies and the Academy Awards since I gush about it every year around this time. As is our tradition, Dale and I have seen all of the Best Picture nominees as well as a majority of the Best Actor/Actress and Best Supporting Actor/Actress. Today I’m going to break down these three categories. For Best Picture I am sharing the movies in order of my most to least favorite. And for the Actor/Actress and Supporting Actor/Actress I’m sharing who I think should win but this one is quite subjective since I haven’t seen all of the performances in these categories. Please note – these are not predictions – just a list of my personal favorites.

Best Picture

  • Green Book
  • A Star is Born
  • BlacKkKlansman
  • Vice
  • Bohemian Rhapsody
  • The Favourite
  • Black Panther
  • Roma

Best Actor/Actress

  • Lady Gaga
  • Rami Malek

Best Supporting Actor/Actress

  • Rachel Weisz
  • Mahershala Ali

We’ll find out on Sunday night how it all plays out. It should be an interesting event without a host . . . I’m just hoping for great fashion and fun night of television.

  1. I haven’t seen any of the movies, so don’t have any opinions. The trailer for Green Book looked good! Maybe you and Kym could host!

  2. I think the only best picture nominee I’ve seen is Black Panther, though I’d like to see more of them (usually I end up getting them all from Netflix after the Oscars). I’m hoping that without a host the show moves a little faster!

  3. I’ve seen only Vice (made us mad all over again) and Black Panther, which I would like to see a second time.

  4. I have only seen a couple of your list – we are not huge movie goers. And, sadly, neither are we big awards show watchers.

But, if you and Kym hosted, I would most certainly watch! Something for them to consider!! I hope you are having an awesome week!

  5. I still can’t decide which movie I hope wins Best Picture . . . but I think I have to go with Glenn Close for Best Actress. (And after seeing Can You Ever Forgive Me, I certainly see why Melissa McCarthy is in the running!) The rest of your acting favorites are my favorites, too. Can’t wait for Sunday night!

  6. I agree with Kym about Best Actress! Glenn Close was AMAZINGGGGG in/as The Wife!! (She also seems amazing as Glenn Close.) I will see The Favourite, Vice, Black Panther (for the second time), and Bohemian Rhapsody (also for the second time) on Saturday… can’t wait for that, and then SUNDAY!! I didn’t realize there wasn’t a host this year. I hope there’s still a good opening number! 😉

  7. I haven’t seen any of them. I usually wait until they are on streaming. I admit my lack of enthusiasm is based on the fact that I don’t like a lot of movies anymore. I find most of them are somewhat depressing. I miss Nora Ephron! I hope you are having a fabulous week.

  8. Hope you’re having a wonderful week … your accommodations sure look nice! I only watch the oscars for the Red Carpet part … the rest of it is way past my bedtime 😉

  9. Like Mary I always loved seeing the dresses and outfits. My mom has actually seen more of the movies up for awards than I have which is to say Mom: 2 Me:0!
