Hello, August

I welcome all the goodness you bring

Bouquets of zinnias and ripe, red tomatoes and the sweetness of local corn

A garden full of pollinators, bees and butterflies flitting through our days

The prospect of watching my daughter become a wife

The privilege of traveling to new places and being open to unique experiences, the wonder of days where the sun disappears for only a few hours

The comfort of an annual family beach vacation

Warm nights with friends gathered under our pergola, building community

More frequent cool, crisp mornings with wide blue skies

And the waning days of summer.

August, I’d be okay if you stuck around for more than 31 days.
