First of all, here's the headshot. I don't love it, but I don't hate it…
Three On Thursday
I’m not sure what happened to the blog yesterday but I think I fixed it. Let’s hope it sticks.

Here we are at the END of JULY and I have thoughts . . .
- I’m hearing people on social media start longing for fall and to that I say a resounding NO. This is mostly because I’m a summer girl and I hate to think of it slipping away. It’s also because I think life is more meaningful when we stay in the present. Why think about hoodies and blankets when you could be enjoying ice cream and the beach? Also, while the weather may start to change, it’s still summer until my birthday on September 21st so fall can just take a step back, mmmkay?
- I’m very pleased with the way my vacation schedule worked out this summer. A week of camping in June. A week at the coast of Maine in July. And another week of camping headed our way in August. It’s been a great way to spread out my time off, have something to look forward to every few weeks, and really savor my time off.
- As we head into August I want to be mindful of the ways I want to continue to savor summer. Pergola Thursday gatherings. Ice cream dates with Dale. Lots of cooking on the grill and griddle. Nights on the deck. Hot dogs cooked over a campfire. Zinnias and dahlias. Taking my morning coffee outside and watching the birds. It’s the memories of all of this that will get me through the inevitable cold this winter.
What are you savoring as we head into the last full month of summer?
Here’s your daily dahlia. This one is called Blizzard, for obvious reasons, and it looks wonderful in a bouquet.

TEST
I’m not anxious for summer to end (at least not the longer days), but the extreme heat and humidity have had me dreaming of fall weather. This morning, though, I woke up to low humidity and low 60s — I’d take several extra months of summer if I could get that!
There is still PLENTY of summer left to enjoy. I haven’t been a fan of the hot & humid, but we finally got a break… 59F yesterday morning & 54 today (highs nearing 80 but not humid). Maddy & I are making a quick swing up north this weekend & at our base camp it was 45F this morning! We sure do have a lot of smoke from wildfires, though.
That does sound like a perfect way to spread your vacation times out over the summer. Something fun and summery for you to look forward every month! And I’m with you . . . enjoy every moment of SUMMER. Summer is fleeting when you live in the north . . . and winter is so long and cold and bleak. There’s a lot of GREAT summer left!!!
