Weekending, August 1st – 3rd, 2025

Here’s a look at some scenes from my weekend:

I made Clams Casino on Friday night. They were a bit of work but worth every minute.

This is the first year I’ve had a Hibiscus in a container and the pink is gorgeous.

Other containers are also thriving right now and I’m enjoying them so much.

The weather was glorious all weekend. Crisp mornings, warm days, cool evenings. We spent a lot of time on the deck and even had a fire in the Solo Stove on Saturday night.

Sunday morning pancakes and bacon.

  4. John’s father used to make clams casino after he had gone fishing at the shore, and they were delicious. I haven’t had them in decades and I miss both him and the clams.

  6. Yummy looking food Carole! Your weekend sounds delightful. The weather here was amazing – simply perfect! Our hibiscus is budded, but no blooms yet. Fingers crossed it blooms soon. Hope your week is off to a good start!

  7. Looks lovely, Carole, all of it. I have been having great weather since Friday. The heat dome moved on and it has been unseasonably cool, but it ends tomorrow. It has been great walking weather. Hope you have a great week.

  8. Oh, and I meant to ask you, which Solo do you have, and is it really safe to burn on a deck? My brother would love one, and it would make a great present.

  9. What pretty photos! That one beautiful dish sure looks like a family heirloom. We had a fun family gathering yesterday, and tomorrow brings the beginning of another family gathering to celebrate our 60th anniversary. (Yes, we are old!) ;>)
