First of all, here's the headshot. I don't love it, but I don't hate it…
Three On Thursday

Feeling at a loss for something to write about today . . . how about the 3 things I do first thing every morning . . . after the obligatory visit to the bathroom, that is . . .
- Give treats to Fred & George. Personally, I can’t tell the difference between their treats and their dry food (in look or smell, I haven’t tasted either personally!) but there must be something special about them because they wait for their treats like me getting a lobster roll. Fred jumps up on a wooden cabinet we have in the kitchen. George enjoys his from the floor.
- Drink a glass of water. I started doing this about a year ago and it’s automatic now. I’m often up and awake for close to an hour before I have a sip of coffee these days. I know that sounds foreign to many of you but it works for me.
- Write down 5 good things that happened the previous day. I used to call this a gratitude list but it has truly evolved into a list of things that made me happy or made me feel accomplished or were just plain . . . good. It’s a great look back at the little details of my life.
What are your morning routines?
And here’s your daily dahlia:

This one is called Polka.

I, like you, have water first thing as well. It is a game changer! I still love my morning coffee… but I prefer it a bit later so I can savor it a bit! I also take Frankie on an early morning walk. It is the best time of the day!
Sometimes the only thing that gets me out of bed is the enticement of my morning tea. I can’t quite imagine having a glass of water before my tea, but maybe I should give it a try since I woke up with a headache this morning. Polka is beautiful!
I let the dog out/in, give him a treat, drink a big glass of water, check the weather/news, take the dog for a walk. This all occurs what will seem like the middle of the night to most folks. My dog likes to get me up at 4:30, but we are working on him waiting until 5am. It’s a process. 😉 I don’t like getting up that early, but I love how he makes me get going and walking first thing in the morning. I only have myself to blame for his love of a walk. He was fat and sedentary when I rescued him, and he is now lean. I do make him wait until civil twilight. Drinking water first thing is a game changer for hydration, and waiting to drink my coffee until about 8am seems to give me greater enjoyment and benefits. The dahlia is gorgeous, and I think this was a very interesting post/question, Carole.
Great dahlia Carole! Coffee, give Boone a carrot, NYT puzzles. 🙂
I should start drinking a glass of water first thing. I don’t leave myself time for anything in the morning except getting ready for work! So I should probably change that, first. 😉 I don’t drink coffee these days unless it’s super fresh and/or someone has made it for me. I only have about a cup-a-day, anyway.
