Weekending, August 8th – 10th, 2025

Another summer weekend in the books, this one with a special event on Saturday when we went to see a Jimmy Buffett tribute band called Changes in Latitudes. Long time readers of this blog will remember our parrothead days, when we would dress as pirates and go see Jimmy in concert every summer. When I first heard about this concert I just wasn’t sure if I wanted to go. I didn’t want to see a poor imitation of the performer I loved and I was worried that it would somehow cheapen the experiences we had.

Boy, was I wrong.

This night filled me with joy and wonderful memories of all of the times we saw Jimmy Buffett. We sang along. We danced. We laughed and remembered the special moments. I’m very glad we went and I’d go again in a heartbeat.

The rest of the weekend was spent reading, creating, and hanging out with Dale.

And here’s your daily dahlia. It’s another Kenora Lisa and this one is huge, clocking in at over 6 inches across!

  1. Glad you had a wonderful time, Carole! You’re right, sometimes tribute bands are a disappointment, but sometimes they are a lot of fun. Six inches? That’s a huge bloom!

  2. I recently saw a Rolling Stone tribute band and they were terrible! I’m glad your experience was much better. I am amazed at a six-inch bloom; maybe John would plant dahlias in the garden next year and forget the vegetables.

  3. I definitely understand your trepidation about seeing a tribute band to such an icon. Glad it brought you a fun time and chance to relive good memories.

  4. Tribute bands can be hit or miss, so I’m glad yours was a hit! And wow, is that flower impressive!

  5. I am so happy to hear that you had so much fun with the tribute band! That is awesome! (as is that gorgeous dahlia!)

  6. I’d so loved to have been present for the Jimmy Buffet tribute. I loved his wonderful loving spirit reflected in his music! Thanks for sharing your experience.

  7. I’m so glad you had a great time at the concert! Tribute bands can be tricky. Our local summer concert this week has a Tom Petty tribute band called Petty Things — I’ve heard them before (I can hear every one of those concerts very well from my front porch) — and they’re great! Hopefully, the weather holds…

  8. I’m so glad you enjoyed the tribute band experience! There are some AWESOME tribute bands out there!!! I always worry when we’re off to see one . . . and then they’re usually fantastic and fun when we get there! Love the dahlias! Just gorge. XO
