Dahlias and Zinnias for Days

I have so many dahlias and zinnias these days that it is, as I said to Dale the other day, an embarrassment of riches. I pick 20-40 dahlias at a time and 75 or more zinnias. It’s glorious and I love every moment.

I share the with friends. I bring them to work. I have jars of them in every room in my house.

I want to remember this post and come back to it in the darkest days of winter, to give me hope that this season will come around again.

  1. That’s a whole lotta WOW! packed into a (relatively) small space. I just love seeing all those blooms . . . all at once. Just gorgeous! (Flowers are magical.) XO

  2. They are all beautiful, but that last photo is perfect and shows your absolute joy. Enjoy the riches!

  3. This is a problem I’d very much love to have! I think I need to plant some zinnias next year. I’m not sure I have the attention span for dahlias, but I think I can manage zinnias (I had a small patch of them last year). Enjoy all those bouquets!

  4. SO much color and loveliness. I wasn’t able to take care of my zinnias this year and they are already ratty and dying back. I’m so happy to see all your amazing results of a well cared for garden. If only I lived next door!! LOL

  5. I love all of these photos, but the one with your house in the background really stands out to me. I’d live there. 😉

  6. I had a boss who used to annoyingly label everything that meant more work for me ‘a good problem!’ Reading this post suggests you have ‘a much better problem’. What a glorious way for your gardens to wrap up the season. That new haircut that you quietly snuck in there is also pretty fabulous!
