Moment of truth: I never left my house all weekend. Yep from the time I…
Weekending, October 10th-13th, 2025
The weather was a mixed bag this weekend at the camper, with an October nor’easter dropping over 6 inches of rain on Plymouth, which is the town next to our campground. Still, we managed to make hay while the sun shone, and we stayed cozy the rest of the time.

It was Halloween weekend at the campground and the weather compressed all of the planned activities into one day, Saturday. Dale did a great job with the decorations around our campsite and, while he didn’t win, he did get a photo of the setup on the campground’s Facebook page.

And he managed to find two students from Hogwart’s, too!

I love nothing more than a daytime campfire. It’s cheerful and warm and welcome when the weather is a little blustery.
Jess and Jackie came to visit for the day on Saturday and they went trick or treating through our area of the campground. We had a great dinner of chili and cornbread and even ventured over to listen to the live music for a while.
Sunday was rain, rain and more rain. Dale managed to get most of the decorations put away before everything got too soggy and then we spent the rest of the day tucked into the dry camper. We watched The First Wives Club, in memory of Diane Keaton, and then watched Hocus Pocus, which has 2 actresses from The First Wives Club in it, ironically enough.

I headed home first thing Monday morning and enjoyed some quiet time at home. I made pumpkin bread and stayed cozy by the gas fireplace. We watched another Diane Keaton classic, Baby Boom, for our evening’s entertainment. I’m gearing myself up for The Family Stone but I’m not sure I’ll be able to handle that one anytime soon.

I think you can finally see some color in this week’s shot of the Bourne Bridge. And they repaved the road this week so it’s very smooth and black now. Only 2 more camping weekends left.

Dale looked great! What fancy pumpkin bread, Carole. It would be hard to cut into that, but I am sure I could do it since it’s my favorite quick bread. Glad you were able to enjoy the weekend in spite of the weather.
Sorry for the soggy weekend, but at least one day was good. Dale’s decorations (and Dale!) look great. I always loved a day time campfire when we were camping. With only two more camping weekends, the season is winding down. Boo-Hoo.
I wish we could have traded geographical locations! I would have loved 6″ of rain, and you might have preferred our 0.4″. But it sounds like you had a lovely weekend in spite of the weather. Dale makes a great Dumbledore (Gandalf?). I have wanted that pan ever since I first saw it in the King Arthur catalog, but I’m glad you have it. I bet it makes the pumpkin bread taste better!
What a great Halloween setup you had! Sorry the rain messed with your plans, though it looks like you made the best of it. You have the best pumpkin bread tin ever and I hope it tasted as good as it looks!
I can’t imagine that Dale didn’t win with that Halloween set up!! It’s so cute (and scary)!
I didn’t like Diane Keaton for the longest time, but have come around the past few years. Family Stone. Ugh… that one’s gonna be tough.
Hi there,
I am getting almost daily updates and then the weekend wrap up posts. I would really appreciate having my name on the weekending list only. Would you be able to go into your email manager or admin and arrange that as I don’t know how to avoid duplication, or heaven forbid! having my name inadvertently removed entirely from your list at this end. Sorry to use the comment section in this way….Thank you. I haven’t told you how much I enjoy your posts, especially the book reviews, and abundance of dahlias!
