Weekending, Oct 17th-20th, 2025

Another weekend at Bourne Scenic Park has ended and it was, technically, our last full one since the park is closing next Sunday morning. I made sure to document it for posterity, of course.

Here’s a view of the canal I don’t generally show you, this is looking east, away from the bridge. The sky was beautiful on Thursday night when I arrived at the campground.

Fred and George were their usual relaxed selves all weekend.

Dale and I attended a No Kings Rally that was one town over from the campground. This is a pretty red part of Massachusetts and the turn out was still great, with over 400 people gathering and lining the street. The energy was wonderful and everyone was very friendly and we didn’t have any trouble, just a handful of people reacting negatively as they drove by.

Protesting gives us hope!

I didn’t knit by the canal this weekend but I did knit by the campfire.

Signs of fall are all around. The leaves are changing. The campground is significantly less full. And we’ve had a few nights that have been pretty chilly.

And your weekly photo of the bridge. The leaves are more vibrant to the naked eye than the camera picks up.

Here’s to a good week ahead!

  1. Another great weekend! That sky is wonderful and 400 people gathered in a red part of MA is terrific. We’re in a purple part of NJ and I was surprised at the 200 or so that came to our protest. I’m sad that your camping is ending so I imagine you will really miss it!

  2. What a lovely weekend Carole. That sky is simply amazing!! It still amazes me how Fred and George have adapted to camping so well. I don’t think Mabel would ever adjust! I love the shot of your knitting by the campfire.

  3. It was a really great weekend! We even got a bit of much needed rain Sunday afternoon into evening into overnight! (Sleeping is always so good with a steady rain!) I think you have had such a good camping season! I imagine you are a bit sad it is drawing to a close. But happy Monday XOXO

  4. That sky is just gorgeous! It sounds like you had a great weekend! We had about 600 turn out for our No Kings protest in spite of heavy thunderstorms and this being a mostly red area. It hasn’t rained here in about 3 months, so we credited ourselves with breaking the drought along with standing up for democracy!

  5. Ooooh, that pink sky! It always makes me feel better about things to hear about large protests in red areas. I live in a pretty blue bubble, so I expect a crowd here (and we had one!), but it says a lot when there is outrage even in red areas.

  6. What a beautiful spot to camp! The sunset is stunning and the fall leaves so pretty. We had 1100 ish people show up in our little town. It’s heartening to see that people aren’t keeping quiet and staying home.
