Just a photo from each day to share with you on this first Monday in…
Weekending, October 31st – November 2nd, 2025
And just like that, October is over and we’re on to November. The darker days are coming on steady now and I’m doing my best to guard myself against any negative feelings I have about that and instead lean into the cozy vibes instead.

Like a latte at home in my Halloween mug.

And setting up our annual Field of Flags display on the Common with my fellow Kiwanians. It’s brilliant in the bright sunshine.

And lovely in the evening thanks to the glow of more than a thousand little light bulbs.

The house is still very much decorated for fall, but Dale set up our “winter” tree in the bedroom yesterday, an acknowledgement that DST has ended.

Fred and George snuggled together at home. They are happy and content in every season. Maybe I should follow their lead.

What a sweet, sweet picture of Fred & George. I love the arm of one over the other! And I always love your bedroom tree. So pretty and cozy. The flags look spectacular. And…your hair – LOVE!!! I need to get mine cut….
The lights really do set the flags off at night – very impressive! I might need to follow F&G’s lead and make an effort to nap more and be more content. Happy Monday!
Looks like you are off to a good start for hygge season. I need to start thinking about that as well. I have bought one of those tabletop birch trees that lights up, and it is a nice comfort during these dark evenings. My dog is very interested in cuddling these days.
I have turned on the mantle twinkle lights since Sunday… not quite a tree, but a nod to darker evenings. Fred and George have the right idea, I think!
I’m not so ready for all things Christmas to start, but I’ll be very happy if people start putting up twinkle lights because the early darkness is already getting to me. And if reincarnation is a thing, I want to come back as a cat or dog so I can be warm and snuggly all day! I hope that latte tasted as good as it looked.
Those flags are just stunning, Carole. Day and night. It’s such a cool tradition you all have in your town. And . . . there are many lessons we can learn from our pets. Fred and George are right about being content in every season. XO
