Weekending, November 21st-23rd, 2025

It was another fun filled weekend around here, a great mix of socializing and down time, too.

We had Friday Night Snacks to start things off on the right foot. I look forward to this time all week long. We sit in our chairs instead of the couch. We listen to music and catch up with each other. It’s an important ritual for me.

Fred and George are down with it, too.

On Saturday I started dividing my dahlias. It’s a tedious process, a true labor of love. While I can’t say it’s the best part about being a dahlia farmer, I will say it’s necessary and still pretty cool to see how many tubers grow from that one original one that goes in the ground.

In the afternoon I went to see Wicked with Hannah. We had a great lunch at a Mexican restaurant first, too. The movie is good. Is it as good as the first one? No. But honestly, that’s because the second act is all falling action. It’s visually stunning and Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are both wonderful. You should see it if you saw the first one, for sure.

Sunday was Friendsgiving at Sean and Michael’s house. It was relaxing and wonderful to hang out with our friends and eat delicious food. I brought deviled eggs, cranberry sauce, roasted butternut squash, and an apple pie. Everyone contributed and I’m grateful for this friend group everyone time we gather.

I hope your weekend was equally satisfying. And here’s to a short work week!

  1. What a fun-filled weekend Carole! A little of this and a little of that – perfect! Isn’t it amazing how the dahlia bulbs/tubers multiply?

  2. What a fantastic weekend! And wow… those tubers are amazing! So so many! Are they all viable for next year?

  3. What a great weekend, Carole. Looks like it was busy, but relaxing, a hard target to hit. BTW, I love your new haircut. I think it is very flattering.

  4. I had no idea that dahlias were so interesting! Now you’ve got more for next year. I LOVE that F&G picture!

  5. I love dahlias. But I am a lazy dahlia grower. (I start fresh with mine . . . every year . . . from seeds.) I wish I lived near you (for many reasons actually) . . . but especially because maybe I could convince you to share some of your dahlia tubers with me. XO

  6. Lazy dahlia farmer here too…though I was really tempted to give it a go this year but the 45 degree, check for moisture, etc. etc. put me off. I really could not figure out a good temperature spot here. Looking good there Carole!

  7. Fred and George are adorable! Sounds like it was a delicious weekend. I know the process of dealing with all the tubers isn’t that fun, but it will pay off big time next year.
