Weekending, Dec 5th-7th, 2025

It was a very Christmas-y weekend around here.

The inside decorating is complete and the outside is mostly done. Dale still has to put up some lights around the pergola and garage doors and find the spotlight for the front door. Since he reads this blog every day I’m hoping this will remind him . . .

We enjoyed time by the tree and fire on Friday while we watched The Santa Claus.

Saturday was our big Kiwanis celebration for our town, Christmas on the Common. I marched in the parade with the Select Board and Dale did parade commentary. I love seeing everyone turn out for this, waving to friends, it’s a moment of pure nostalgia for me. After the parade, Dale headed to the school to play Santa, I walked home and then went back to the school in the afternoon where I got a selfie with the man of the hour.

We had a dinner party that night for 9, friends who are also in Kiwanis. I made individual chicken pot pies for everyone, Dale made mashed potatoes, other friends provided salad and apps and dessert. This is the first time we’ve opened our new dining room table up to it’s full size and it is huge. I mixed and matched my fiestware in red, green, pink, lime green, and white. It looked really festive and I promise I kept George off the table despite his insistence that he belongs there.

Sunday morning was lazy and I read in bed with the cats.

In the afternoon we did a shift at the Kiwanis Christmas tree stand. I had my knitting with me but it was pretty steady and I didn’t get to knit more than a few rows.

I hope you had a great weekend, too.
