Weekending, February 6th-8th, 2026

This weekend felt a lot like last weekend.
It was cold and I never left the house . . . again
It snowed . . . again
I knit and knit on the Waffle Pullover . . . again
The Patriots played in the Super Bowl . . . again
And lost . . . again
Sigh.
There were good things, too.
We had a gathering of friends on Friday evening that was lovely. We watched another Oscar nominated Best Picture, One Battle After Another, and enjoyed it. I cooked a delicious pot roast all afternoon on Saturday and the house smelled fantastic. We watched parts of the Olympics and felt proud and inspired. And one of my squares for the Super Bowl was the final score of the game and I won money.
How was your weekend?

I’m laughing at myself because I didn’t even know it was Super Bowl weekend!! That’s how little I pay attention to sports. Pot Roast sounds like a perfect meal on a wintry day. And staying home must have been so nice (I wish I hadn’t had to go out).
It was a good weekend… oh man. (Best reason for it being good was that I had a long conversation with my son and for the first time since the end of last November, he sounded more like himself… and that was so, so, so good!) I also watched a bit of the game… but really didn’t watch (iykyk) but I did watch the halftime show and that made me all kinds of happy as well! I, likewise, knit on the never-ending yoke… and I mean NEVER-ENDING! I have fears of still knitting this yoke in July! HA!
My weekend was much like yours . . . although I did not win any money. (And oh the yoke. I gotta say . . . it’s tedious.) (Also . . . do not drop a stitch.) (Just sayiin.)
Sorry about the Patriots but it sounds like there were plenty of good things. I’m sending you good knitting vibes on your never-ending sweater!
Sorry about the Pats. I haven’t participated in a football pool in ages! Must spearhead that next season. I’m getting REALLY sick of waking up to another inch-and-a-half of snow on the ground — twice over the weekend! So annoying. Mmmm, pot roast!
Kudos to you and Kym for tackling that yoke! My weekend was quiet and much the same, but provided the hope for much better weather that has suddenly made an appearance today. YAY! Sunshine and warmer temps that my pup and I will be enjoying on our walk. Your weekend does look very cozy, Carole.
It sounds as if you had a good weekend given the bitter cold weather in your area and the Patriots. Around here we are Chiefs fans (midwest loyalty and all) so weren’t too invested in the Super Bowl. I did see on IG that the Audubon society dubbed Sunday and Superb Owl day or something like that. Owls are much more my speed. I hope you get a bit of a warm up soon. Hang in there with the sweater yoke. I love the sweater pattern and imagine all the work with be worth it in the end.
I’m sorry the Super Bowl didn’t end the way you hoped, but I hope the snacks and company were good in any case — and winning some money is a good consolation prize! I hope the coming weekend brings some good changes (like maybe no snow and warmer temps so you can willingly leave the house?).
