Read With Us: The Spring 2023 Announcement

The time has come to announce our Spring 2023 selection for Read With Us. Insert the ole drumroll here . . .

The book is Trespasses by Louise Kennedy. The highlight from the blurb that makes me want to read it:

Set in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, a shattering novel about a young woman caught between allegiance to community and a dangerous passion.

I mean, what says Read With Us more than the word shattering? Tell me I’m wrong.

Beyond that angst that we all love so much, though, is this: the Women’s Prize for Fiction Longlist, the Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize Nominee Shortlist, the British Book Award for Fiction Debut Nominee, and the Eason Novel of the Year Award from this year’s An Post Irish Book Awards.

So maybe award winning says Read With Us just as much as shattering.

I haven’t read it yet but I have it right now from Libby and I will be getting to it shortly. Hopefully you will be able to obtain a copy easily so that you can read it in time for our discussion on June 6th.

And be sure and check out Bonny and Kym’s blogs today as they do their best to convince you to . . . Read With Us.

  1. I’ve made a good start on it just this week. I’m liking it so far, and think that it will be highly discussable.

  2. I had it on hold at the library, but the wait was long, so when you announced it, I ordered a paperback copy from Blackwell’s. It arrived Monday, so I’m ready to go as soon as I finish my current read! (Also, I think you all can now describe RWU as an award-winning book club, given some of the titles we’ve read!)
