I have something to show you . . .

That is a big ole pile of Rowan Handknit Cotton from Modern Daily Knitting. I was so inspired by Kym’s post last week that I bought the pattern and the yarn and I am excited to start making Sinkmates.

However. I have rules about this sort of thing and the rule I am enforcing right now is that I need to finish the Same As It Ever Was hat before I can start a dishcloth. Since I really want to knit dishcloths (especially when I’m camping) I am suddenly quite motivated to finish the hat and I’ve been working on it every day.

It’s a win all around.

As for reading, I’m about 1/3 of the way through James McBride’s latest, The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store. This is an ARC and the book is due to be published next week so I’m feeling the pressure to finish that, too.

So, don’t mind me. I’ll just be over here knitting. And reading. And meeting those deadlines.

P.S. Don’t forget to check out Kat’s blog today and see what everyone else is knitting and reading right now, too.

  1. You can do it!! I bought the pattern too, but have not started any yet. Love the colors you’ve chosen. The new McBride book sounds really good, and Pottstown, PA is only about 20-30 minutes from where I live!

  2. Those Sinkmates will make perfect camping knitting and they are also motivation to finish the hat. You have quite a collection of colors of cotton and I’ll look forward to seeing some Sinkmates!

  3. I really love the colors you have selected! Those should be some awesome (and portable!!) sinkmates!

I am eager to look at your review of McBride’s new book as well!

  4. Oooooo! Love the colors you’ve got there, Carole. You’re going to have so much fun mixing and matching!! And it’s always good to find something that motivates us to move a project forward!

  5. Still slogging along on my Kiki Mariko hearth rug. And the Central Park Hoodie is in a time out. Having trouble getting a smooth pick up on the hood.

That said, I immediately jumped on the SinkMates pattern after seeing both MDK and Kym’s posts. I have some cotton from the dishtowels I made for my niece’s wedding gift last summer. I may just cast on a dishcloth this afternoon…

  6. I’ll be over here rooting for you to finish your hat! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the book, too; I only just found out that he has a new book coming out.

  7. Oh, I am so glad to see that hat in the finishing lane! The Sinkmates will be perfect potato chip knitting on your vacation.

  8. “seeing” you over there knitting are reading (a book I’ve pre-ordered… signed!) makes me very happy. Keep it up!
