Weekending, March 27th – 29th, 2026

Let’s recap the weekend.

Fred and George kept a careful eye on the birds. The finches are still shy about being at the window when the cats are right.there but the tufted titmice and the chickadees don’t care at all. It’s super entertaining.

My Spring Solo Side Quest on Friday was to visit an adorable charcuterie shop about 40 minutes from where I live. It’s called JG Charcuterie and the owner is super friendly and really knowledgeable about cheese and cured meat and more. You can preorder a box or you can just pop in and have her make one up for you. They also have wine, sandwiches, and packaged cheese you can purchase.

My motive for visiting on this particular Friday was to get a girl dinner box for Dale and I to enjoy in the hotel Friday night in Connecticut so we didn’t have to go out to eat once we arrived. It was so good and plenty to fill us up, we didn’t even finish all the cheese and fruit.

I have no pictures of our Saturday Camper Training and I think my head might explode from all of the stuff we covered. The new weight distribution system, the tankless hot water system, the solar panels, the leveling and stabilizers, the (get this) central vacuum, and more. Most of that stuff is above my paygrade and Dale takes care of it but I like to help where I can. The camper is being delivered on Friday and you can bet I’ll share more photos once it’s here and we start to make it our own.

On Sunday we hung out at home, packing up the stuff in the camper so it’s ready to go when they take it away on Friday. I made some cookies and a really great roast chicken for dinner. We spontaneously watched Hello, Dolly (it was the roast chicken that did it because all I could think of was Dolly Levi ordering a whole chicken at the Harmonia Gardens) and just like that the weekend was over.

  1. Sounds like a pretty good weekend. I can feel the camper info overload and I wasn’t even there. Maybe a dry run at home to get a few of the systems figured out? I mean, if you can camp in your own backyard… why not the driveway? You’ll be enjoying it in no time.

  2. Oh, I’m excited for your new camper!! Central Vacuum??? The Charcuterie box looks delicious – what a great dinner! I was just thinking I have not roasted a chicken in a long, long time, but I love to roast one with a cut lemon inside (and plenty of herbs). Hope your week is a nice easy one Carole!

  3. What a lovely charcuterie box!! And how exciting to go “get to know” the ins and outs of your new camper! I am eager to see it!

  4. Hopefully all of the new camper bells and whistles will become second nature soon enough. The central vacuum does make me laugh! That charcuterie box and those cookies sound delicious; I keep adding things to my Easter menu and I might be adding those cookies!
