Three On Thursday

I have a theme this week!

Spring is still elusive around here but there were 3 distinct moments when I noticed it …

  1. On Monday night I heard spring peepers! Dale and I are in the habit of going out to eat after my Monday meeting and when we got out of the car at the restaurant I heard them and it stopped me in my tracks. They were loud and proud and hearing the for the first time is always one of my favorite moments of spring.
  2. There are pussywillows in bloom. There’s a big field that I drive by every morning on my way to work and there are pussywillows all along the edge and they are perfect right now.
  3. I looked out my kitchen sink window yesterday and saw a daffodil in bloom by my front door. (My house is L-shaped so I have a perfect view of the front garden from this window.) That pop of yellow was such a welcome site on a dreary morning.

I’m hoping to plant pansies in the window boxes this weekend. It’s time!

  1. My second “flight” of daffodils began blooming yesterday… no fooling! But no peepers heard here yet… maybe this weekend?

  2. I don’t think I’ve ever seen pussy willows growing in the wild, only at the grocery store! Plating pansies is a quintessential spring activity, and might serve to nudge spring along.
